Text• The font of my text was chosen to add authenticity and make the
advert look unique. • After I had researched into CDs already created by various artists and
music labels, it became apparent that font that appeared as if it had been sketched or written was popular within the Acoustic Genre.
• I used this Acoustic convention by using a typewriter style font to make it look modern and to follow conventions that were usually used.
• Although I didn’t use the same font for the artist and the song name, they were extremely similar. I did this because I didn’t want it to look too much of the same and then be boring, so I alternated between the two fonts, yet I still had continuity.
• So that the audience would make a link between the CD and the magazine advert, I used the same font for the artist’s name and the ‘Out Now’ on the advert.
Images • The image that I chose to use for my magazine advert was the same
one that was used on the front of the CD• I did this to create continuity and so that the audience would link the two
ancillary products together, therefore promoting the artists• This was a convention that I had seen used by Acoustic genres when
doing my research. Artists often use the same image on the advert as the CD so that the CD is easily recognised after seeing the advert which promotes it
• I did not challenge any conventions when choosing what image to use for my advert
• The wooden frame that I used on my advert was to create a modern new look that I hadn’t seen before. When doing my research, the advert that inspired me to do this was the Mumford and Sons advert, where it appeared that the CD had been framed. I developed this idea by putting an actual frame around the album to make it the focus of the advert
Promoting the artist• To promote an artist a magazine advert is
typically created to promote the artist. • On the magazine cover that I created I included
the artists’ website and an online website where the music could be purchased from.
• This was a convention that I found when researching into magazine adverts. I used this convention as it is a good way to promote the artists’ music online as well as the album in store.
