As the mercury drops, two things spring to mind... Mother’s Day and it’s time to edit your wardrobe ready for the new season! Luckily, both of these can be solved at Q.

On the wardrobe front, the fashion stores at Q can easily meet your needs. Regardless of whether you need a total wardrobe make over or just a few key pieces, it will be easy to stay on trend at Q. Speaking of trends, here are 2 tips. Bright colours for winter are very important this season and walking past Vanity Shoes we noticed fabulous bag and shoe combinations worth investigating.

Togs Swimwear has catered to the Sheer trend with a simple black mesh kaftan with a bejewelled neckline. Throw it over a simple black slip with some boots and you’re ready to go.

Vests are everywhere this season and are perfect for winters in our mild climate. With the ability to be dressed up or down, they can become a central point for you to work your wardrobe around. We asked Kelly at The Style Forum for some ideas on how to wear them and she suggested for a more relaxed outfit, team the vest with a riding pant. Add to this, a suede boot with a tartan highlight to tie in with the red vest, gold accessories and you’re ready for a day in the great outdoors. Alternatively, instead of the pants and boots swap with a pair of heels and a skirt and you’re ready for lunch with the girls or a day out shopping. The Style Forum have a huge variety of choice to suit all fashionista ladies with sizes ranging from 8 to 26.

It is only recently that women have been so spoilt for choice when it comes to fragrance. At the turn of the last century there were so few perfumes available that some women said it was harder to select a signature fragrance than it was a good husband.

But how times have changed, there are approximately 800 new fragrances due to be launched this year. To help you though this maze of base notes, top notes and the like, we have selected 6 fragrances from Terry White Chemists to showcase for you.

hairyou have recently been involved in the l’oreal Melbourne fashion festival, tell us about it?

Renowned for being one of the most prominent dates on the Fashion calendar, this year’s LMFF did not disappoint. As a part of the official hair styling team, we were privileged to work with Alex Perry, Allannah Hill, Camilla, Carla Zampati and Charlie Brown just to name a few, creating brilliant and sophisticated looks. The buzz and hype is always a great environment to work in and extremely inspirational to bring back to our teams.

what do you see as the hair trends for this coming winter?

Autumn / Winter 2012 is all about Revivals and Evolution. Colours will be of warmer tones with vibrant splashes and the balayage technique will continue to be popular using copper, Mahogany and chocolate browns.

For long hair, its back to the gorgeous bouncy blow outs inspired from the 70’s. If you want go up, try a modern French twist, wet look chignon or looped under pony tail. Fringes are one particular style that remains strong especially the grungy long blunt cut and bed messy look. The pixie crop isn’t disappearing from 2012 but it will take on a rockabilly edge. Keep the cut really short with individual elements.

How can women achieve these looks at home?

It’s important for your stylist to take the time to guide you through a step by step process on how to style and maintain your hair at home. As we are all individuals, we require different techniques to help us create these looks.

Having said that, what is the one thing that women should not deny themselves when it comes to their hair?

A good home hair care regime! Protect your colour and hair condition from the outside elements and always have a great styling product on hand to give you a beautiful finished look.

who is a celebrity that you think gets their hair styling look right every time?

Like a lot of us, celebrities have their good and bad hair days but I believe Danni Minogue has definitely got the rockabilly pixie crop RIGHT this season.

with Mother’s day approaching, what does Mother’s day mean to you?

Mother’s Day is another great reason to show mum how much you care by treating her to a day of pampering.

dead or alive, name 3 people who you would love to have dinner with?

Steve Jobbs, Barrack Obama, Karl Stephanovic.

favourite place to hang out on the Gold coast?

Burleigh beach is a great spot to kick back and relax.

where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?

It’s hard to predict the future but I do know that we will continue to evolve and remain educated on the advanced technologies that become available, to offer our clients the highest quality of products and the most current and up and coming looks.

what are 5 words that describe Marcus edward concept salons?

Creative, Professional, Innovative, we Care and we Listen.

No other interior style has the same relaxed look of the Hamptons. With its muted colour palette, it is very easy on the eye and hints back to origins of French Provincial. To remain interesting this style relies on the clever use of fabric and texture and the combination of linens and timber to make for a very tactile space. For anyone looking to rework their interior spaces, or even just a gift or home accessory Belle Collection have just received their new stock and it is well worth a visit

MorGan froM fliGHT cenTre aT Q Tells Us all aboUT Her faVoUriTe Holiday desTinaTion…

Why? There is so much more to see than you expect and the people are the warmest people I have ever had the pleasure to meet.

seeing the sights - I would suggest a campervan if it’s within your budget. It means you don’t have to pack and unpack constantly, you can put your feet up whenever you feel like and best of all it gets you to some of the more out of the way places such as The Burren or Ring of Kerry. Thankfully, they drive on the same side of the road as we do but if driving isn’t for you, Ireland does have a reliable public transport system but do remember that it will mean some things are a little harder to get to.

shopping - Grafton Street in Belfast has great shops and is easy to find. For souvenirs, look for a Carols which is a chain of gift shops with everything ‘Irish’ that you can fit into your suitcase and there is one on every block. Also, if you have the time, a visit to Stephan’s Green Shopping Centre is worth a look.

sleeping - We spent the majority of nights sleeping in our campervan; the Irish Caravan and Camping Council can answer any questions you may have. We even camped for a few nights which was a bit of fun. We did treat our inner rock stars and stayed at The Clarence which is owned by U2 and is a truly beautiful hotel with breath taking views overlooking the river that runs through Dublin, The Liffey.

eating - For a stylish meal I would have to say Peploe’s - the food is exquisite and they are open from noon to midnight so it’s pretty easy to get a table. We ate there before we treated ourselves to a night at the theater as they have a set menu geared to make sure you get to the shows on time.

If you’re after a more relaxed meal try the Irish stew at The Porterhouse which is the oldest microbrewery in Dublin and the beer makes up for the rustic décor - in short, great food that won’t break the bank. But if there is one thing you must eat during your stay in Ireland, it has to be a Beef and Guinness Pie! YUM!

irish Pub fun – Definitely Kehoe’s especially for the taste of some Guinness. This is the sort of pub you see in the movies where the staff are all fun and the general vibe is like being at your local as everyone seems to know everyone. It’s also a great place to sit and hear an Irish yarn as only the Irish can tell them. Oh and if you’re not into Guinness, a Bulmer’s Cider with a twist of Blackcurrant is a great replacement.

best time to visit - Without a doubt, St Patrick’s Day! You must go to Mass to start your day and from there anything could happen. You could end up at a family gathering or stumble into the local pub for a pint or 4. Many a person has left Mass to then head home only to find themselves on a detour from pub to pub and pint to pint. Aside from the pubs, the whole of Ireland comes alive for a weeklong celebration. There are activities and events for all ages and being in Ireland on St Patrick’s Day has by far been the most surreal experience of my travelling adventures.

If you would like more information on Ireland or any other destination, please feel free to stop by Flight Centre at Q and say hi! I’m sure I will be able to help you start your holiday planning.

Ireland!
