Introduction to Q• It is the UK’s biggest selling music magazine.
• Published monthly in the UK. • Founders ; Mark Ellen and David Hepworth.
• First published in 1986.• It covers a wide range of musical genres as you can
see by the covers below.

History
• When Q was first published in 1986 it was named ‘cue’ as in to cue a record but was later changed so that it wouldn’t be confused for a
snooker magazine.
•Another reason, cited in Q's 200th edition, is that a single-letter title would be more prominent on news stands.
• Q set itself apart from other magazines when it was first published because of the high quality of photography and printing.

Success
• As of June 2007 it has a circulation of 130,179 copies.
• Q is the UK’s biggest selling magazine.
• World’s best music guide.
• Has a radio station, TV station, website and YouTube channel. This is good for the audience because they have different ways of accessing the media if they can’t
afford a monthly magazine.
• Also it shows success because they have mastered different media formats.
• They also have an awards show and a music venue.

• Much of the magazine is devoted to interviews with popular musical artists.
• The magazine is well known for compiling lists
• Promotional gifts are given away, such as CDs or books.
• Usual features include The Q50, wherein the magazine lists the top 50 essential tracks of the month.
