CAMPUS ADMINISTRATOR DIRECTOR OF NURSING Although we’re approaching spring, we are still encouraging all staff, families, and residents to get their seasonal flu shots. Minnesota’s influenza activity shows widespread occurrence throughout the state. Regardless of your flu shot status, please stay home if you have a cough, fever, or other respiratory symptoms. Feel free to call our nurse’s station if you are questioning whether you should come to visit. If you must come when you’re ill, nurses can provide masks as requested. With your help, we can prevent the spread of influenza and other illnesses in our community and beyond. Jennifer Husnik 651-466-1040 [email protected] I wanted to update all families, friends, residents and families on a new statute that outlines the rules and regulations of electronic monitoring. The new Minnesota statute §144.6502 outlines the requirements for residents or a resident’s representative to conduct electronic monitoring of the resident's room or private living unit through the use of electronic monitoring devices. Much of the statute pertains to the privacy of our residents and tenants and requires written consent from the resident, tenant and roommate prior to use. Birchwood Senior Living supports the use of such electronic monitoring devices when conducted consistent with the statutory requirements. Should you have any questions or need copies of the electronic monitoring consent forms please feel free to reach out to me via phone, email or in person. We thank you for your efforts in honoring the privacy of our tenants and residents. Noel Lovas 651-466-1022 [email protected]

Greetings, with the winter months and thecold/ flu season still upon us, ourhousekeeping team has been diligentlyworking on making sure entryways and hallsare debris free, and all surfaces are beingdisinfected multiple times throughout the day. Our laundry team has been equally busypromoting our new labeling system, and on2/27/20 we spent most of our day hosting alabeling activity where residents were invitedto the Avenue Lounge to enjoy somerefreshments while their personal items werelabeled on the spot. We couldn't be happierwith the turn out, truly a successful day. Jennifer M. Housekeeping/LaundryManager

Birchwood has made several improvements to the building over the last fewsweeks. The employee break room remodel is one of them. The staff are able toenjoy new flooring, countertop, sink and announcement board picturedbelow. Our employees are our most valuable asset and we are working to showthem our appreciation everyday.
