Description:Only two things are known for sure about the mysterious Pyro: he sets things on fire and he doesn't speak. In fact, only the part about setting things on fire is undisputed. Some believe his occasional rasping wheeze may be an attempt to communicate through a mouth obstructed by a filter and attached to lungs ravaged by constant exposure to his asbestos-lined suit. Either way, he's a fearsome, inscrutable, on-fire Frankenstein of a man - if he even is a man.[1]

Basic strategyMain articles:Pyro tips,Pyro strategy

Ambush enemies to catch them in the short range of your Flamethrower. Use corners to your advantage. Don't approach enemies head-on; they will notice you and use your short range to their advantage. Approaching enemies from the back is usually a much safer and stronger route to attack. This is an especially effective method when employed with theBackburner. Your Flamethrower chews up a lot of ammo. Pick up fallen weapons to refill your supply. You can often set enemies on fire and retreat, leaving them to die from the afterburn.WeaponsMain article:WeaponsNote: Weapon damage is approximate and listed at base value. See individual weapon pages for additional figures. The Flamethrower, Backburner, Degreaser, Phlogistinator, Flare Gun, and Detonator deal no damage when fired underwater, instead producing harmless bubbles. The aforementioned weapons will deal damage if fired from above water at an enemy that is only partially immersed in water; however, the water will immediately extinguish the ensuing afterburn.PrimaryWeaponKill IconAmmoLoadedAmmoCarriedDamage RangeNotes / Special Abilities

Bugs When a player is selecting a class in-game while onBLUteam, the Pyro is holding aREDteam Flamethrower instead of the BLU team Flamethrower. If a burning player enters a spawn area and changes to Pyro, they will change classes but still be ignited for the remainder of the original duration. The Pyro will not take damage from the afterburn but will still shout, "Fire!"Trivia The Pyro'svoice actor,Dennis Bateman, also voices theSpyclass. The Pyro has the same voice for the English, German, Spanish, French and Russian versions ofTeam Fortress 2. ThreeNapalm Grenades, weapons fromTeam Fortress Classic, appear strapped to the front of the Pyro's suit and were originally intended to be usable weapons in Team Fortress 2. However, all thrown grenades were eventually scrapped for balancing purposes. Despite common belief, the tanks located on the Pyro's back are for oxygen while the gas tank is fused to the immediate Flamethrower. The original BLU Pyro wasAbraham Lincoln. The Pyro is the mascot of "Pyro's Hamburgers", a brand of food sold inLeft 4 Dead 2. The Pyro is playable inKilling Flooras a promotional bonus character for those who have purchased bothKilling FloorandTeam Fortress 2. The Pyro appears inWorms: Reloadedas part of a playable stage. Additionally, the Pyro's gas mask is a selectable hat for the player's worms. The Pyro's gas mask is wearable by the Tank class ofMonday Night Combatunder the name "Jet Guns Are Better". Gibs, orgiblets, are the bits and pieces of a player's body that are left after the player has been killed in a specific manner, often explosive in nature. When a player is gibbed, their body parts may be highlighted on theDeathcam. Additionally, theHorseless Headless Horsemannalways drops its own unique gibs on death. The term gibs also encapsulates debris left by destroyedbuildings,[1]stickybombs,[1]Electro Sappers,[1]Razorbacks,Guitars, props, and the fallout from the explosion upon the attacking teams' victory on the final stage of aPayloadmap. "Gib" can also be used as a verb, e.g. "gibbing" someone, meaning reducing an enemy to gibs by blowing them up with a rocket or grenade.Players can gib themselves oncommandby enteringexplodeinto the console (similar tosuicidingby entering thekillcommand into the console), or by having the commandbound to a key.The server settingtf_playergibcan also be used to modify gibbing behavior: when it is set to '0', players will not gib at all, no matter what kills them. When set to '1' (the default setting), gibbing behavior is as normal. Finally, with the settingtf_playergib 2, players will gib when killed by practicallyanymeans - be it abackstab, environmental kill, orShotgunblast.Contents[hide] 1Causes 2List 2.1Deathcam examples 2.2Class gibs 2.3Generic gibs 2.4Silly gibs 2.5Debris gibs 2.6Horseless Headless Horsemann gibs 3Related achievements 3.1Soldier 3.2Engineer 4Update history 5Bugs 6See also 7Notes

TheCombat Mini-Sentrydeployed by Gunslinger Engineers uses the same gibs as a destroyed Level 1 Sentry Gun. Gibs, like theberChargetextures, with the exception of the Soldier's onBLU, do not show the class' final designs. For example, a gibbed Scout has a different shoe design and his socks have stripes.
