Education and Training

Consultant: Barb Dorn

Our president and program director attended the national leaders

conference as well as the PWSA (USA) national conference. We

were able to hear numerous speakers and bring back up to date

information for our membership.

While at the conference we were able to establish new

relationships with a number of young families from here in

Wisconsin.

Support

We granted scholarships to two families to attend the PWSA (USA) national conference in Florida.

We awarded a scholarship for an individual with PWS to attend summer camp.

We have a crisis phone line provided to answer questions and give help when needed.

Our annual Snowflake Ball gave families an opportunity to network and allowed our PWS community to enjoy a

glamorous night.

Our first annual Strike Out PWS event gave families a chance to get together and get to know each other over an

afternoon of bowling.

We granted a scholarship that provided money to help a family afford transportation to medical appointments.

We sponsored an individual so that they would be able to attend the Snowflake Ball.

We sponsored a family so they could attend our On the Move walkathon.

Our families with young children group took a trip to the Henry Vilas Zoo together.

Ongoing support was provided to a foster mother of a young man with PWS as well as a number of families in the

Madison area.

We spread awareness through our annual On the Move

walkathon and by having our informational table at roller

derby games throughout the first half of the year. Fans

from all over Wisconsin as well as from other states

around the Midwest had the opportunity to learn about

PWSA of WI!

Advocacy

We supported three different families with different school situations. This involved multiple trips to each

district to do things like help with IEP meetings, do observations, and provide education and ideas to the

educators. We also assisted a family in making a group home decision.

Education

Our education and training consultant presented to nurses and staff at the UWM University Station in Madison on

“The Adult with Prader-Willi Syndrome-Health and Aging Issues.”

Our website and facebook page are kept up to date with the most up to date information that is available.

Card Club

Our card club provides birthday cards as well as a quarterly greeting card to 141 individuals with PWS in the

state. Anyone with PWS in Wisconsin is eligible.
