PwC Scholars Program Director

Dr. Dina Naples Layish is a professor of finance at Binghamton University. In August

of 2012, she was appointed the Director of the PricewaterhouseCoopers Scholars program in the

School of Management. She teaches Financial Management, Financial Statement Analysis,

Corporate Finance and Investments. Her research has been published in Financial Markets,

Institutions and Instruments and the Journal of Portfolio Management. She also volunteers her

time for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. In 2003, she co-founded the first Walk to

Cure Diabetes in the Binghamton area and has helped in fundraising over $900,000 for research

to cure diabetes over the past 12 years. She has also served on the board of Life is Washable, Inc.

and the Campus Preschool at Binghamton University. Prof. Layish was honored by the Services

for Students with Disabilities with a Faculty Recognition Award in 2002, 2008 and 2014. Prof.

Layish was voted Faculty of the Year twice (2008-2009 and 2011-2012) by the students in the

School of Management. She was awarded with the Provost’s Award for Excellence in Teaching

by Binghamton University in 2015. Professor Layish holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics

and Masters of Business Administration in Finance from Binghamton University and a Ph.D. in

Business from Baruch College.

Matt Singer: PwC Audit Partner Financial Services, Alternative Asset Management &

Binghamton Firm Relationship Partner

Matt is a member of the Alternative Asset Management Practice at PwC and is the market team

leader for the practice. He has 19 years of experience at the firm, and gained international

experiences spending two years working in our London practice. He has expert knowledge in

U.S. GAAP, U.S. regulatory requirements for banking institutions, alternative institutions,

purchase accounting and SEC and financial reporting experience. Matt also has deep experience

with alternative investment management companies, hedge funds and broker dealers. He is

proficient in all commercial banking products (deposits and money market, foreign exchange,

corporate and retail lending, leverage lending, equity and debt securities, derivative financial

instruments, commodities, prime brokerage, securities lending and repurchase agreements, asset-

backed securities). Matt also has experience as one of the lead Partners on a non-audit global top

five investment bank. Matt's recent consulting experience for the non-audit client includes an

operating model review for the Finance organization and a strategic review of internal audit on

behalf of the Board of Directors. He has over eighteen years of professional experience.

Matt is PwC’s firm relationship partner at Binghamton University. Matt is responsible for

maintaining and developing PwC’s relationship with the students, the PwC Scholars Program,

faculty and administration.

Matt is a CPA and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the

New York State Society of CPAs. He graduated from Binghamton University with a BS in

accounting and resides in Manhattan with his wife.

Lauren Palmer: Member of the Campus Recruiting team at PwC and lead recruiter at

Binghamton University

Lauren started her career with the firm in the Advisory practice, where she spent 3 years working

with clients in various industries including retail and consumer, telecommunications, and energy.

She focused on Sarbanes-Oxley 404 requirements and Internal Audit reviews and testing. In her

role as Campus Recruiting Manager, she now focuses on hiring top talent into the firm and

works closely with Binghamton students, faculty and administration.

Lauren joined the firm in 2008, after completing an internship during the summer of 2007. She

graduated from Louisiana State University where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Finance

with an Internal Audit concentration. She is originally from Alabama, loves to travel, and

currently calls New York City home.
