Oregon National Primate Research CenterWhen: November 6th

Where: ONRPC is a research facility that specializes in human research on primates. There are primates on the grounds and they help with research for aging, AIDS, depression, infectious diseases, substance abuse, obesity, reproductive health, and stem cells

What: We will be given a presentation about the Center, possible talk from a veterinarian, and a tour of the center with the primates.

General idea: Depth and Breadth. Have in-depth experience in several different fields before you apply. (Patrick Kamins, OSU CVM)

humane society that is independently funded. They have many companion animals in need of care and attention. A training session will be scheduled for Pre-Vet Club students.

Heartland Humane Society Opportunity to

participate in a veterinary setting by medicating, giving fluids, taking blood, and general physical exams.

Assist with the intake of animals into this shelter.

It functions as the county pound giving Heartland the opportunity to spay and neuter animals on a regular basis.

Chintimini Wildlife Rehabilitation Center

This opportunity will provide students experience with wild animal rehabilitation.

You will work with wildlife veterinarians, and staff to educate the public and care for injured and orphaned animals. There is a volunteer application form available on the website.

Brad’s Reptile WorldVolunteers will have the

opportunity to work with reptiles of all types and learn the care that is required to keep these animals healthy.

Educating the public is a large part of the mission here, volunteers will learn to present key futures about reptiles and their environment.

This is a multiple doctor, small animal and 24 hour emergency clinic offering short term ‘externships’ for pre-vet students.

One student each week can establish a schedule with the hospital and work in their desired area of the hospital.

Opportunities to job shadow doctors at the Large Animal Hospital.

Members interested must have some prior equine experience, health insurance, and flexibility to commit to 6 hours/week.
