Disc Zone... what it meansYou need to display a parking disc in yourwindscreen. Discs are free of charge andavailable from HIC Reception, Box Office,local shops, hotels, tourist information andcouncil offices. Take note of the time limit,this varies throughout the town centre. The town centre is divided into zones, you may not park in the same zone morethan once during any 24-hour period.
Blue Badge HoldersBlue Badge Holders can park free of charge in all of theCouncil’s Off Street car parks and On Street car parking bays. The Blue Badge must be displayed so that the Badge Numberand Expiry Date are visible. There is no time limit.
Blue Badge Holders can park free of charge and for a maximumof 3 hours on single or double yellow lines providing the vehicleis not causing an obstruction to other road users or pedestrians.A valid Blue Badge must be displayed as detailed above alongwith a parking disc showing time of arrival.
Please check all signs and road markings when parking your vehicle.
Bus StopsAlong busy roads an illegally parked vehicle can delay 50people travelling on a bus. Vehicles parked illegally oftenprevent buses and larger vehicles from manoeuvring safely and can restrict the driver’s vision... please let buses use them!
Penalty Charges (PCN)A Penalty Charge Notice will be issued for any vehiclecontravening the traffic regulations. There are two levels ofcharges, £50 and £70. If paid within 14 days these will bereduced to £25 and £35.
Details on how and where to pay a Penalty Charge will be given on the back of the PCN together with a payment slip.
