Puspita Das is a Senior Engineer currently working with Arcadis India and with a first class bachelor degree in

Environmental Engineering complemented by eight years of extensive and diverse experience in wastewater

and water works.

Puspita’s key areas of expertise includes Highway Drainage ,Hydraulic design and modelling of gravity system,

(2016 – Present) – ARCADIS, India

Smart Motorway Programme (M4)

Puspita is a Senior Drainage Engineer working for SMP M4 Project which includes the modification of existing

drainage assets and proposal of additional/new drainage systems. The Scheme is approximately 51km in length

from Junction 12 (Theale) to Junction 3 (Hayes).

Existing and Proposed Drainage assets are being modelled using Microdraiange Software.

(2014 – 2015) – AECOM Middle East, Qatar

Q22 FIFA World Cup Qatar Al Wakrah Stadium Precinct

Puspita had been the lead engineer in developing the drainage and foul systems for the multidisciplinary project

of Al Wakrah Stadium Precinct.

The scheme integrated a number of innovative sustainability measures throughout the project in relation to the

targeted LEED/GSAS accreditation requirements and has received No Objection Certificate (NOC) from

Ministry of Environment for its proposed Surface Water Management system.

Additional responsibility involved in recruitment,training and project mentoring of new Drainage Team in Arcadis

Office -Hyderabad, consisting of experienced and graduates engineers.

The project involved detailed engineering of Positive drainage system and Sustainable Urban Drainage

(SUDs) facilities for the three different operational mode of the Stadium as Base, Tournament and Legacy.

She had been involved in preparing drainage strategy for the project site in close coordination with the

Master Planner and Highway Team and has been involved in producing various onsite drainage discharge

design, supporting calculations, hydraulic models, model build reports , associated drawings and typical

details.

Local Roads and Drainage Programme (Contract-2)

Involved in various Qatar South Drainage schemes under the prestigious LRDP programme and

responsibility includes from developing concept study to detailed design of surface water and groundwater

system.

Responsibilities includes design development of positive and passive system of infiltration trenches, swales,

EFAs, cross drainage and modelling of the drainage systems in Infoworks CS.

Groundwater management system with preliminary assessment of groundwater issues according to Qatar

Integrated Development and Management Plan (QIDMP 2013) has been carried out in all the Qatar South

Projects and groundwater collection and pumping system has been proposed accordingly.

Also involved in client liaising, assisting the commercial team with BOQ preparation and site team with design

RFIs. She had been able to succesfully deliver number of schemes to Gateway 3 stage, approved for

construction.

Lusail Artscape Works

Aecom Middle East has been commissioned to carry out the design of the Lusail Artscape Visiot Centre by

Ashgal Public Work Authority. The development comprises an urban gateway sculpture and a suspended

Visitor Centre access via a Cable Car from a Base Station located on the development plot behind Royal

Beach Palace and consists of a plot area of approximately 6 ha.

She was responsible for the hydraulic modeling and design review of the wet infrastructure for the scheme,

comprising of 1.5 km long surface water and 500m long foul gravity network and pumping main. The drainage

design also incorporated SUDs features along with Geo-cellular Tanks and Hydrobrake to have restricted

flow to the main Lusail Expressway Newtwork.

Al Muntazah Extension

Al Muntazah project is in construction phase and involves street extension work and new Flyover and

Underpass development. Responsibility includes attending the Design RFI’s from site and resolving the

proposed drainage network issues.

(2011 - 2014) - WS ATKINS, India

Contract 2 – DW015/68 Local roads and drainage Puspita had taken a lead role in the detailed design of new storm water network for the Doha West projects

(750 hectares of new development and mixed development of 1300 hectares). Responsible for technically

leading an off-shore design team of drainage design engineers and CAD technicians in multi-disciplinary

environment and had been actively involved with team setup and training, resource planning, liaising with

client office and handling the work pack delivery.

She also had been on a month assignment to Doha office to work with the onshore team on the conceptual

redesign work of DW015.

Her contribution to the DW15 project made her the receiver of the certificates “Highly Commended for

Project Performance” at the Qatar Staff Awards Ceremony 2013, and for “Best Project Performance”

in Atkins Bangalore Value Awards 2012.

The extensive experience plus design responsibilities at all stages of a project lifecycle ensures that

Puspita is well equipped to support, deliver and add value to the LR & DP Doha West projects.

KBR Concept and Option Design. Involved in preparation of conceptual network design and drawing of highway drainage for Khalifa and Al-

Bustan road, Qatar using WinDES 12.5.The design included the modelling of large attenuation systems to

hold a 2 hour storm in the event of a pump failure, along with passive drainage systems.

Gloucestershire Highways Drainage Projects

Design of SUD system for Elmbridge Car Park Area using Tarmac Dry and ACO Drains in Windes 12.5

Involved in existing and proposed network model building and supporting drawings.

Building of new and rehabilitation of existing storm network system for Cinderford and C&G and Walls

Drainage Project under Gloucestershire Council, using Windes 12.5.Also, involved in preparation Flood map

and other supporting drawings.

Thames water AMP5 Flood Studies.

Involved in detailed investigation into the mechanism of external flooding and optioneering for Thames

Water. Also, preparation of DG5 flood investigation report and cost estimate.

(2010 - 2011) – HYDER Consulting Pvt Ltd, India

Crossrail Sewer and Water Mitigation (Thames Water)

Involved with preparation of sewer and water monitoring and contingency plan using MapInfo. Preparation

of detailed design drawings for online and offline replacement of TWUL asset. Also responsible for preparing

design statement and work site information reports.

Developer Service (South West Water)

Producing preliminary and detailed designs for sewer/storm network development projects (S185 and

S98).Technical Assessment and project estimate of S102 & S104 and preparation of CCTV survey report

for S102. Completing design risk assessments for all design work undertaken. Generating construction cost estimates

from standard costs database and scheme programme, including design and construction elements.

Preparing Pre Construction Information (H&S) documents, DRA and Tender document. Liaising with client

facing teams to resolve scheme queries

Former Showground Site, Holsworthy sewer upgrade and Pumping Station (South West Water)

Preparation of detailed design of sewer rehabilitation along Trewyn Road and combined sewer overflow

chamber connecting to the proposed pumping station. Also involved in preparation of short tender document

and site waste management plan.

Potable Water Network PPackage-4B of Emirati Neighborhood (Abu Dhabi Distribution Company).

Demand calculation for ADDC and UPC and preparation of preliminary design drawing of the water network.

Preparation DRA, SWP and short Tender documents. 2008-2010) Nur EWC Sdn Bhd, Brunei Darussalam

As an Environmental Engineer she was involved with the project Kuala Belait-Sg Liang water Supply and

water Treatment work (JKR Water Department)

The main responsibilities included:

- Coordinating civil work with WTP hydraulic profile and appraising the required modifications.

Monitoring of the As-built drawing for the WTP and Raw water pumping main.

- Design of water service line for the WTP from the 4mld

Water Tower. Process design review work.

- Water quality assessment pertaining to the study of THM and DOC for the WTP using EPANET 2.

- Preparation of weekly progress report and material log preparation for site pipeline work and RWPM.

- Implementation and monitoring of Best Management Practice (BMP) for site storm water

management. Design of Site SUD system of over the edge drainage ditches and slot drains.

(2007 - 2008) Stup Consulting Pvt Ltd, India

As a Public Health Engineer was involved in the project Rehabilitation of water supply network of

Zirakpur Town (PWSSB).Project initiated by PWSSB to reinstate the existing water supply network and

provide additional components to ensure efficient water utility to the town of Zirakpur. Involved in water

supply network design using LOOP, EIA and Conditional survey report preparation and assessment of zone

preparation prior to design work.

(2007 - 2008) Consortium for DEWATS Dissemination Society, India

Puspita worked in the Tsunami Rehabilitation Project sponsored by Government of India and was involved

in technical feasibility of DEWATS system for the Tsunami affected areas. Reconstruction of villages affected

by Tsunami was followed by the initiative of providing Sanitation and Drainage System.

Responsibilities included designing of DEWAT system and its ancillary sewerage network, french drainage

system provisions, reconnaissance survey, EIA assessment, laboratory analysis of wastewater sample and

monitoring report preparation.
