About the CompanyWho are PUSH?PUSH are a physical theatre company that were first formed in 2000 by Darren and Heather Stevenson. They are based in New York and explore physical theatre using dance and aerobics. They have toured both the US and England and received the ‘Performing Artist of the Year’ award in 2009. They have performed in a variety of different venues to audiences varying from large audience of 11,000 to more intimate performances to audiences of 200. What do they do?Push describe their performances as ‘like watching a live action movie.’ Their form of physical theatre involves telling stories with their bodies. As a company they believe that each actor should encompass their own experiences within the performance. They focus mainly on the use of their bodies and use a lot of lifts to create different images. In most of their work they do not use their voices but use their bodies to communicate instead.
