Job Title: Graduate Bespoke Design EngineerLine Manager: Bespoke Design ManagerReports: x
Purpose of the position
To successfully identify and understand the customer's needs and to provide a high level of technical advice / project
support to internal and external customers where required.
To design, development and detailing of feasible rooflight solutions and their associated products for manufacture to
customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Design, develop and detail feasible rooflight and roof window solutions, and their associated products, for manufacture
to customer specifications.
Produce fully detailed 3D models, in SolidWorks, for manufacturing purposes.
Undertake all necessary simulations, thermal calculations and prototyping to ensure products are fit for purpose.
Liaise with other team members to ensure design intent is accurately transferred from 3D model to 2D drawings.
Support and assist our internal teams and suppliers to ensure successful bespoke projects from order through to
dispatch to agreed quality standards.
Successfully identify and understand the customer's needs and provide a high level of technical advice or project
support to internal and external customers where required.
In consultation with the Bespoke Design Manager, identify and implement efficient and effective processes and
procedures through continual improvement.
Manage own workload to meet agreed deadlines.
To support and assist the team in other duties relating to the day-to-day running of bespoke projects.
To work within the procedures of the company quality system.
To uphold the company values of Integrity, Care, Empowerment and Unity.
Knowledge and Skills
Qualifications
Degree qualified in Product Design or Industrial Design, or similar discipline.
Experience - Desirable
Minimum of 1 year’s relevant work experience within a relevant professional environment.
Skills – Essential
A good working knowledge of 3D CAD software (Solidworks or similar)
An interest in design, preferably within construction or architecture.Page 1 of 2

Competent IT skills – in particular MS Office 2000 or later (Word, Excel & Outlook).
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
Ability to identify customer’s needs and understand technical information.
Skills – Desirable
A technical background with knowledge of sheet metal fabrications.
Personal
Teamwork and co-operation; develop good working relationships with other departments and company members.
Creative with excellent problem-solving skills; confident in 'thinking outside the box'.
Organised and self-motivated; ability to work independently across concurrent projects to tight deadlines.
Excellent attention to detail.
Must be able to demonstrate ‘Cause & Effect’ thinking, maturity and a practical aptitude.
Driving Licence.
Review
The Graduate Bespoke Design Engineer duties will normally be agreed by annual consultation between the Bespoke Design
Manager and the individual and shall take into consideration the outcome of the company appraisal scheme including issues
relating to Company objectives.
