Purpose of study

A fascination for Science & Technology and keen interest in the ever-growing world of

technology motivated me to take up engineering. I choose to major in Electrical power

engineering with an intense urge to delve into the challenging field. During my under

graduate program, I learned the various fundamentals of Electrical Engineering which

together with practical course work reinforce me to take interest in that vary field.

I am ambitious to avail this scholarship as my interest lie specifically in the field of

renewable energy sources (solar technology). My MS Research work has been completed

in the field of thin film Photovoltaic technology. The thin film solar cell technology is in

fact the conversion of the energy carried by photoelectric radiation into electrical energy

which is a physical phenomenon. Solar cells are without doubt the most important type of

device for carrying out such conversion. Not only at the research and development level

is this happening, many practical applications are also emerging. One of the major

obstacles for the world wide development of the photovoltaic is the production cost, so

the main aim was to produce electricity competitively and renewably and selected

technology is best suited for these criteria.

I am clear as to my carrier aspiration; education is a life long process. I therefore wish to

pursue a doctoral degree after my MS. I am fully aware that yours curriculum requires

that I summon all my resources. I am convinced that my study at your Lab would be

meaningful and rewarding experience.

I intend to study about the electrical power technology with specialization in renewable

energy resources. Presently about 84% of total of electricity in the whole world is

generated by coal fired power houses, emitting 170 million tons of carbon dioxide every

year, polluting the environment and making it hazardous for all living things. Pakistan is

also in the grip of severe energy crisis that is affecting all sectors of economy and various

segment of society. Our government has already taken steps about it which I think are not

sufficient to overcome the energy, the reason behind this is the lack of modern

technology and skilled manpower in energy sector. By availing this opportunity I will be

equipped with modern technological techniques which I will implement in the home

country with a vision of improving the energy problems of my country as well as I will

play my role in research going on in many universities regarding renewable energy

resources.

The other reason why I want to study at your esteemed university is that it provides the

kind of expose needed to broaden my thinking. Overall development of the personality

can be done and it helps me to broaden my concept from the narrower confines of

nationalism to internationalism.

My innate strength has been my quantitative and analytical abilities which instilled me a

special interest for mathematical and physics. I would like to present my past

performance as my credentials for my success in my future endeavors I hope I will be

given a chance to make my life useful.
