Purple Line Section 1 Construction Updates

Wilshire/Western Station Eases Into Spotlight

It was inevitable that the new Purple Line stations under construction would gather the bulk ofattention; after all, Wilshire/La Cienega, Wilshire/Fairfax and Wilshire/La Brea have never had asubway station. But now the spotlight illuminates the veteran station at Wilshire/Western, which hasbeen serving riders since 1993.

Beginning in September 2017, with the relocation of a sewer in the eastbound lanes of Wilshire Bl,the design-builder began the steps necessary to connect the Purple Line terminus to the future twintunnels.

The next phase of construction began Friday, October 27 as the design-builder started the first of ananticipated 14 full weekend closures for Wilshire Bl, between Manhattan Pl and Western Av. Theseweekend closures are necessary to complete piling and jet grouting, and they save time compared toa series of weekday-only closures. Subscribe to our email list

Wilshire/La Cienega Hits Phase 3

Decking of the Wilshire/La Cienega intersection is now complete! The design-build contractor, STS,will be moving onto Phase 3 this weekend. Phase 3 will consist of decking on Wilshire Bl between LaCienega Bl and San Vicente Bl in Beverly Hills and will take place over 11 full weekend closures ofWilshire Bl.

Purple Line Section 2 & 3 Construction Updates

Section 2 Wilshire/Rodeo Station Proposed Memorandum of Agreement

On October 24th, Metro presented to Beverly Hills stakeholders the proposed Memorandum ofAgreement (MOA) for Advance Utility Relocation (AUR) for the future Wilshire/Rodeo Station andreceived feedback regarding various specifics of the agreement. Metro also plans to discuss the MOAat the monthly update meeting in Beverly Hills on Wednesday, November 8 before taking theproposed MOA to Beverly Hills City Council on November 21st.

Section 3 Pre-Construction Activities Begins Early 2018

Section 3 is getting ready to start pre-construction activities in January 2018! Work will focus onadvance utility relocation (AUR) at the future Wilshire/Westwood Station and will continue for twoyears. Learn more about the upcoming work including the schedule, work hours, and traffic impactsat the Section 3 Community Meeting on Tuesday, November 28 at Belmont Village Senior Living -Westwood.
