Designed by Cheryl Beckerich Skill Level: Easy/Intermediate Materials: Cascade Yarns® Pure Alpaca 100% Baby Alpaca 100 g (3.5 oz) / 220 yds (200 m) 1 skein of color #3042 (Mystic Purple) US 5 (3.75 mm) circular knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge US 5 (3.75 mm) DPN knitting needles Stitch Marker Yarn Needle

Gauge: 7 sts = 1” in Rib Pattern.

Abbreviations: CO = Cast On BO = Bind Off K = Knit P = Purl RS = Right Side WS = Wrong Side PM = Place Marker SM = Slip Marker St(s) = Stitch(es) YO = Yarn Over

Special Stitches: Rib Pattern – K2, P2, every row in the round. m1l - Make one left. Insert left needle under the bar between the stitches from the front to the back. Knit into the back of the lifted bar. m1r- Make one right. Insert left needle under the bar between the stitches from the back to the front. Knit into the front of the lifted bar.

Pattern:

CO 48. PM and join to work in the round in a K2, P2 Rib pattern. Work until piece measures 5”. Begin Thumb Gusset: Round 1: In the first purl section after the marker, P1, PM, m1l, PM, P1, work even to the end of round. Round 2 and every even round: Work even. Rounds 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13: Increase 2 sts between the markers as follows: SM, m1l, knit to marker, m1r, SM. Continue these thumb gusset increases until there are 13 sts between the markers. Place the thumb gusset sts on a holder to be worked later. Join the sts on either side of gusset sts and continue to work the Rib pattern in the round for 4 rounds. Top Ruffle: Round 1: *K1 YO; rep from * to end of the round. Rounds 2 and 3: K Bind off. Bottom Ruffle: Pick up 48 sts along CO edge. Knit 2 rounds. Round 1: *K1 YO; rep from * to end of the round. Rounds 2 and 3: K Bind off. Thumb: Slip the 13 thumb gusset sts on 2 DPNs. With a 3rd needle, pick up 5 sts along inside of the thumb. Work in the round (k) for 5 rounds. BO.

Finishing: Weave in ends.
