About the Pump Users International Forum
Based on the great tradition of nine Pump Congresses since 1973, VDMA Pumps + Systems Association will organise the next Pump Users International Forum 2012 in Düsseldorf, Germany from 27th to 28th Sep-tember 2012. During the last forum in 2008 more than 920 participants attended about 125 technical lectures (pumps and compres-sors), and 85 exhibitors found customers for technical discussions in a laid-back atmos-phere. It is the leading pump congress of its kind world wide.
Pumps and Systems
Treating “Pumps and Systems”, the forum will be the perfect place to:
• describe your solution for unresolved questions and problems related to pump applications
• discuss the significance of pumps in respect to the energy consumption of pumping systems
• recognise that reliability and energy/cost saving is necessarily no contradiction
• present your ideas for cost savings in operating pumps and pumping systems
• introduce your new developments and technical solutions
• communicate with your supplier or customer in a relaxed setting.
What will the Pump Users International Forum offer?
The Pump Users International Forum 2012 will offer:
. The appointed programme committee will decide on its acceptance.
The complete text of the accepted technical papers must be submitted by . Upon being accepted by the programme committee, the abstracts will be available at the website: www.introequipcon.com
Your paper should be easily classified and allocated to one of the categories listed for technical papers (see below). Suggestions for other subjects are welcome.
All abstracts and technical papers are to be submitted in English, the official language of the forum (presentation and discussion). All lectures are scheduled to be 30 minutes in length (20 minutes for presentation, 10 minutes for discussion).
Proposed technical papers which have been published or presented elsewhere prior to the end of the forum will not be accepted. In the event of subsequent publication a refer-ence to the forum has to be made.
Conference registration is free of charge for the presenter of a lecture which has been accepted for presentation.
Technical papers are welcome
Pumps are everywhere – most of the time they operate in the dark and remain undis-covered. But our daily lives would not be imaginable without pumps. Hence we would like your paper to contribute to a higher consideration of pumps by
• reporting about coping with an outstanding challenge
• describing your alternative solution for a well known application
• presenting your latest developments.
We would like to give our participants answers to questions such as:

About the Compressor Users International Forum
For the 3rd time the VDMA Compressors, Compressed Air and Vacuum Technology Association will organise the Compressor Users International Forum 2012 from 27th to 28th September 2012 in Düsseldorf, Germany. This Forum will offer an extraordinary oppor-tunity for compressor and vacuum technol-ogy users, manufacturers and researchers or scientists to exchange their experiences, news and innovations about compressors, compressed air and gas/vacuum systems, as well as their applications. The Compressor Users International Forum 2012 will be focused on process gas compressors (rotary machines), compressed air and vacuum technology.
Compressors, vacuum technology and Systems
Treating “Compressors, compressed air, vacuum technology and related Systems”, the forum will be the perfect place to:
• describe your solution for unresolved questions and problems related to compressor and vacuum applications
• discuss the significance of compressors and vacuum machinery in respect to the energy consumption
• recognise that reliability and energy/cost saving is necessarily no contradiction
• present your ideas for cost savings in operating compressors, compressed air and vacuum systems
• introduce your new developments and technical solutions
• communicate with your supplier or customer in a relaxed setting.
• What modifications to compressors are necessary in order to take advantage of (adiabatic) compressed air storage?
• What problems can arise if compressing certain gases such as H
2S in specific
processes?
We graciously request your paper according the scope and the following items:
• Technology & Research – System-, machine-, component design – Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics – Simulations & Calculations – Pulsations and Vibrations – Materials, Corrosion, Tribology and Wear – Acceptance and Test Methods – Operations
• Service and maintenance – Service depending on demand / Tele-
service – Availability and Reliability – Overhaul & Revamping – Diagnostics, Monitoring and controls
• Applications – Engineering of Compressor Plants – Oil & Gas On- and Off-Shore – LNG / GTL, industrial gas – Capture and Storage – CCS and CAES – Refinery, Chemical, Process and Pharma-
ceutical Industry – Energy and power generation – Biogas and renewable energies – Automotive industry – Food Processing and Packaging industry – Functional safety and related standards – Effects by EC directives e. g. EuP/ErP
directive
• Economy and sustainability – Lifecycle costs – Financing instruments – Compressed air vs. electricity – Energy management – System analysis

About the EFRC
The EFRC – European Forum for Reciprocat-ing Compressors was founded in June 1999 as a non-profit association to support Euro-pean users, manufacturers and scientists working with reciprocating compressors in terms of technology, exchange of experi-ence, formation and promotion of standards and precompetitive research. Since then its geographical reach has grown from Central Europe to entire Europe and recently to the US. The small crowd of 8 initial members has grown to 36 in 2011. It is an essential goal of the symposium to create a forum where scientists and engineers engaged in the development of reciprocating compres-sors are given the opportunity to present the state of the art, to show that the reciprocat-ing compressor has turned into a reliable machine not only being best in terms of efficiency and flexibility but also meeting the requirements of low maintenance costs and safe operation. The EFRC acts as a “forum of ideas” providing the opportunity to spread new ideas / or to carry them out. The users in their turn can take the opportunity to report on their experience with such machines and to request the industry concerned for solu-tions to challenging conditions.
The 8th EFRC Conference will be held jointly with the 10th VDMA Pump Users International Forum and the 3rd VDMA Compressor Users International Forum consolidated as the In- ternational Rotating Equipment Conference in Düsseldorf, Germany from 27th to 28th Sep-tember 2012.
