Logging on to HINARI 1

Before logging into PubMed we can Login to the HINARI website using the URL http://www.who.int/hinari

HINARI Log-In 2

We will need to insert our HINARI User Name and Password in the Login box and click on the Login button.

Main HINARI webpageFrom the main HINARI webpage, we can access PubMed from the “Find articles” link in the body of the webpage. Click on Search for HINARI journal articles through PubMed (Medline).

Welcome to the PubMed Homepage. Part 2 of the tutorial will look at using the Limits function to narrow down our search results by different parameters.

If we type in a search statement such as tuberculosis in the Search box, we will get a large number of records in our results.

PubMed search results

The tuberculosis search will return almost 160000 hits. This is too many to view in any meaningful way.

This includes almost 17000 HINARI citations and 13500 Free full text citations (07 2007).

We can begin to narrow this down by looking at the Limits function.
