Biggest string art portrait of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam
The record for making the biggest string art portrait of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was set by Shabeek K a staff in ICF hospital. He made this string art portrait using 4258 nails on a canvas measuring 6ft X 4ft.

PERSON OF THE MONTH

Shri Suneet Sharma has taken over the charge of new Chairman &
Chief Executive Of�icer (CEO), Railway Board (Ministry of Railways)
and ex-of�icio Principal Secretary to Government of India. Prior to
this, Shri Suneet Sharma worked as General Manager, Eastern
Railway.
Shri Suneet Sharma joined the Indian Railways in 1979 as a Special
Class Apprentice while he was studying engineering at IIT Kanpur. A
graduate in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, he has more than
40 years of experience serving in the Indian Railways in various
capacities. He has done stints in Operational working, maintenance
in Sheds, Depots and Workshops. He was Chief Workshop Manager,
Parel workshop in Mumbai where he was instrumental in
manufacturing narrow gauge locomotives for hill railways. He also
restored old steam narrow gauge locomotive for the heritage
Matheran line near Mumbai. During the 2006 Mumbai suburban
train blasts, he was part of the team which put the suburban network
on track within a few hours after the terror attack. As ADRM, Mumbai
CST, he is credited with increasing the services of the suburban
network, which is considered the life-line of Mumbai. During the
2008 Mumbai terror attacks, he was part of the team that managed
the aftermath of the attacks at Mumbai CST, Central Railway. As DRM,
Pune, he was instrumental in adding infrastructure which brought
about operational ef�iciency. As Chief Mechanical Engineer of the
then Diesel Locomotive Works, Varanasi, (now Banaras Locomotive
Works) he was team leader for starting electric locomotive
production. Conversion of diesel to electric locomotives took place
under his leadership in record time and for the �irst time anywhere in
the world.
As General Manager Modern Coach Factory, Raebareli, he set a record
by doubling the outturn of the modern passenger coaches in one
year.
As General Manager Eastern Railway, he took initiative in increasing
the speed of goods trains to a record level and for completing a
number of infrastructure projects of new lines and electri�ication,
which not only resulted in operational ef�iciency but developed the
local areas. He is known for bringing about systemic changes for ease
of working and administrative reforms.
During his career, he has won many professional awards. As General
Manager (Modern Coach Factory Raebareli) and Chief Mechanical
Engineer (Banaras Locomotive Works) both the factories won the
award for best Production Units.
Shri Suneet Sharma has attended professional training in Germany
and France and he has done an advanced leadership and
management course at Carnegie Mellon University in USA. He has
visited Iran as a consultant for manufacture of locomotives.
He is an avid sportsman and has played Billiards and Snooker at
competitive level. He is also a keen golfer and a badminton/squash
player.

RECENT IMPROVEMENTS
• 53 nos of RCCBs of various ratings were provided in Shell and
Furnishing factory, administrative of�ice, hospital and service
buildings in addition to existing RCCBs to improve safety
standards.
• Electrically operated alarm pushbutton with indication lamp has
been introduced in addition to mechanically operated passenger
alarm chain in OB MEMU from rake no.37 onwards.
• Mounting arrangement of RMPU in Kolkata Metro coaches revised
due to change in layout made for CBTC requirement in DTC and
CCTV camera location revised from EWP to ballize transmission
module panel due to provision of ballize transmission module
required for CBTC.
• ICF has rolled out 91 self propelled coaches in the outturn of 190
coaches in twenty one working days during the month of Dec’20.
Out of which nine Rakes of 8 Car 3-phase MEMU dispatched
which is the highest in a month for the year 2020-21.
• ICF has manufactured two vistadome coaches on LHB platform
with roof glasses and wide windows for panoramic view of
surroundings. Oscillation trials (180 kmph) of 120KN air spring
coach completed successfully and squeeze test also completed at
ICF successfully with 204 T squeeze load.
• ICF has been awarded EN 15085 certi�icate on 18.12.2020 by
Accredia, Italy. The certi�ication complies with speci�ic welding
standard for manufacturer of railway vehicles and components.
ICF is the �irst Production Unit in Indian Railways to get this
certi�ication including Design.

The Coach Maintenance Depot, Guwahati, of NF Railway has started using “Make in India” 3D Component Printer to design & print coach components in-house as per requirement. This is for the �irst time ever in any depot over Indian Railways that such 3D Component Printer has been used for making components like snack tray knobs, alarm chain pulling handle, coach door handle, etc which are not readily available in market due to their unusual design and application only in Railways.
This 3D component printer is speci�ically used for making such items for immediate �itment in coaches.

Measurement Book
• All payment are based on the recording of M book.
• The page of book to be machine-numbered.
• No page on any account to be torn out.
• No entry should be erased or defaced so as to be illegible.
• In case of mistake, it should be corrected by crossing in
correct word and re-write.
• Correction any made should be initialled.
• A reliable record is the object to be aimed at, as it may have to
be produced as evidence in a court of law.
• Entries should be made in ink if not possible by indelible
pencil.
• Entry should be recorded continuously.
• Cancellation page to be attested.
• No contract certi�icate should be signed without thus
crossing off connected entry in the measurement book.
• Measurement should be acknowledged by contractor.
• Measurement book no and page no to be indicated in the
concerned bills.
• M book to be vetted by Accounts before payment
