Scientific Tamil & Terminology

One of the Pioneers in the field of Tamil Terminology. The thesis is in

the field of Tamil Terminology for the Ph.D Degree. The degree was

awarded by the University of Madras very early in 1982 and this work can

very well be claimed as the first of this category in India and may be among

developing countries. The thesis is being cited well by all the scholars in

their works on Terminology.

Tamil Computing

Softwares developed in the field of Tamil Computing under my guidance

1. Agarathi (A Bilingual Dictionary Software for English-Tamil Science

Dictionary) which can accommodate Tamil Scripts also and capable

of giving various kinds of Dictionaries like English-Tamil And Tamil -

English Dictionaries and Glossaries.

2. TLAS- Tamil Library Automation System, for the Dept. of Tamil

Studies Library which has the provision for bilingual entry of both

English and Tamil Books and for performing the library activities like

issue and return of books.

3. A Pronunciation software developed for teaching ambiguous Phones

for the children.

Introduction of Computer Education with reference to Tamil

Language and Linguistis in the Curriculum

îI›‚ èEQJò™ (Tamil Computing) had been included as a course

for MA Tamil in the Dept. of Tamil Studies of Bharathidasan

University.

A unit has been introduced in the paper ‘Ayvu Nerimuraikal’ for

M.Phil Tamil in the syllabus to be followed by the affiliated colleges of

the University.

Introducing Terminology and Scientific Tamil as Extra Disciplinary

course for the PG Students of other Arts &Science Disciplines..

A General Contribution in influencing policies on Higher Studies in

Tamil and related fields at State and National level in the Status of

Member of High level committees.

Member of the Selection board for academic posts in various

Universities in Tamil Nadu and also in some of the Central and State

Universities in the National level also.

Gave special lecture regarding the policy for framing the syllabus for
