–Committee Mission Statement – “Seek to provide retirement security for members and new members; work to protect current benefits and to enhance benefits when possible.”

–Establish a ‘go team’ for onsite critical emergencies (further discussion – March Agenda)

–Evaluate possibility of an educational certificate program for advanced pension education Preferred online Check NCPERS education plans for basic/advanced

– Create website resource page– Consider individual trustee educational programs for states

– Staff to prepare draft comments on GASB and to forward to committee for review (Submission deadline July 31, 2009)

Protecting Your Pension – will provide union leaders and pension trustees with information and skills to promote and defend fire fighter pensions

Capital Stewardship – will introduce pension trustees and union leaders to the importance of capital stewardship and pension activism

Fiduciary Duties – will outline the legal duties of trustees regarding pension fund management
