Improvement Projects & 35th Street Underground Electrical
Service Project
PROJECT DETAILS In early 2016, Public Works will oversee the construction of 2,635 linear feet of duct bank in 35th Street to house Austin Energy’s dual underground electrical feeders which will provide an electrical service upgrade to the Davis Water Treat-ment Plant.
In addition, Austin Water and the Public Works Department are working on two improvement projects within the Davis Water Treatment Plant property:
1) The Medium Service Pump Station project: Includes the construction of a new medium service pump station with a pumping capacity of 60 million gallons of water per day; demolition of the existing medium service pump station building and other associated civil, mechanical and electrical work. 2) The Power Distribution Upgrade proj-ect: Includes construction of a new elec-trical substation building to connect the upgraded service from Austin Energy and distribute power to various process areas of the plant.

In order to maintain reliable delivery of drinking water to City of Austin customers, Austin Energy is partnering with Austin Water and Public Works to provide electri-cal service to the Davis Water Treatment plant located at 3500 West 35th street. In addition, Austin Water andPublic Works are undertaking two major improvement projects within the Davis Water Treatment Plant.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR NEIGHBORS? • Lane reductions in 35th Street between Hillview Road and Foothill Drive during the construction of the underground electrical feeder duct bank for one to six months in 2016. • The contractor’s work hours will typically be from 7am to 6pm during most of the project. • Contractor will adhere to the City's noise ordinance, but typical construction noise can be expected within working hours.TIMELINE (CURRENT SCHEDULE) • 35th Street Underground Electrical Service Project February 2016 -September 2016 • Davis Water Treatment Plant Projects May 2016 -July 2019 Note: Schedules are projected as accurately as possible, but are subject to change.
