PUBLIC DRAW FOR 67 CROWN LAND COTTAGE LOTS

Avalon Peninsula

Sixty-seven (67) Crown land cottage lots on the Avalon Peninsula are being made available by Public Draw. Four (4) of the lots are on Nine Island Pond Road, twelve (12) are at Placentia Junction, seven (7) are at Deer Park, Salmonier, one (1) is on the Salmonier Line and forty-three (43) are at the Salmonier Cottage Initiative development area. Lots will be sold as outright grants. Prices range from $25,600 to $65,000. Maps and lot prices are attached to this document and are available at Regional Lands Offices. Lot prices include a legal land survey and evaluation of the site for capability to support an on-site septic system. Public Draw entries must be submitted to the Eastern Regional Lands Office by 4:15 p.m., Friday, November 14, 2014. Entry forms are available at Crown Lands offices and the Department of Municipal and Intergovernmental Affairs’ web site, or the attached form may be used. A person may submit only one entry. Entries cannot be made on-line and will not be accepted by fax or e-mail. There is no fee to enter the Public Draw. The order in which lots will be selected will be determined by random sorting of entrants’ names. This will take place at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 27, 2014, at the Eastern Regional Lands Office in the Howley Building, Higgins Line, St. John’s. Public attendance is not necessary. The randomly sorted list will be posted on the Department’s web site and available at Regional Lands Offices throughout the province no earlier than 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 27, 2014. The sorted list will not display any personal contact information. Entrants will not be mailed or contacted to be advised of their ranking in the Draw. Entrants will select lots in their randomly ranked order at a Lot Selection meeting at the Holiday Inn, Portugal Cove Road, St. John’s, commencing 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2014. Anyone who selects a lot must immediately pay an application fee of $100 (plus $13 HST) and a document processing fee of $200 at the meeting. These fees, totaling $313, are not refundable under any circumstances and will not be deducted from the price of the lot. Payment may be made by cash, cheque or money order, made payable to the Newfoundland Exchequer Account. Draw entrants are advised that lots are sold as undeveloped raw land. Some may require extensive site work. It is strongly advised lots be visually inspected in the field and that the septic system evaluation reports available on-line and at the Eastern Regional Lands Office be viewed prior to attending the lot selection meeting. Also note that maintenance of cottage access roads will not be provided by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. NOTICE (PLEASE READ CAREFULLY)

Failure to provide a complete mailing address with postal code and a telephone number with area code where you may be reached during daytime working hours may result in disqualification. Only one entry form shall be submitted per person. Entries from companies, corporations, associations or groups will not be accepted. Do not transmit this form by fax or email to Lands Branch offices. Selection order will be determined by random sorting of Public Draw entrants at 10:30 a.m., November 27, 2014. The sorted list will be publicly posted on the Department’s web site and at Regional Lands Offices throughout the province. The list will not display any entrant’s contact information. It is each entrant’s responsibility to find out their Draw ranking. Entrants will not be mailed or contacted by the Lands Branch. Lot Selection will take place at the Holiday Inn, Portugal Cove Road, St. John’s starting 7:00 p.m. December 10, 2014.
