Annual Catholic Appeal: A Future Full of Hope
We have a Passion for our Faith,
a Promise for our Future, we Care for our Community, and
we Love our Family.
Thank you to the 67% of parish house-holds which have so far pledged (as of May 11) a total of $118,746, representing 91% toward our combined Archdiocesan/parish goal of $130,947, leaving $12,201 to go. If we make our goal, $68,600 will re-turn to us for our 2016 Parish Project: replacing the retaining walls on the east, south and west sides of our property, and the sidewalk in front of the church. This is vital with the construction of the new Rapid Bus Transit on the east side of the Church. Over 60 Diocesan minis-tries & services are supported by our gifts to the Annual Catholic Appeal. If you have not already done so, we ask for your donation and your prayers for the work of the diocese & our parish! Please help us today!
Adult Faith Formation Class:
Not sure how to get started reading the Bible? Trouble making sense of challenging passages? Wonder what Holy Mother Church would think of certain interpretations?
Intro to Catholic Biblical Interpretation
Wednesdays, May 25 - Jun 22 7:00pm, Upper Hall
Join us for a five-week series at the Proto-Cathedral ex-ploring general principles guiding Catholic interpretation of Sacred Scripture. We’ll study official Church teaching on the subject and then apply these principles to texts in the Old and New Testaments. Gain more confidence in approaching texts such as the creation accounts, ancient Hebrew literature, the Gospels, & the Book of Revelation.

Curious about Catholicism? I f you or someone you know is interested in learning more about or joining the Catholic Church, invite them to visit a new “Inquiry Table” in the Lower Hall on Sunday mornings at 10:15am. Come over after the 9am Mass or before the 11am Mass and join an informal conversation to ask any questions you may have or perhaps to learn more about the Mass, prayer ideas, or beginning to read the Bible. This would be a good way to start if you or a friend has been away from the Church for a while and might be ready to come home.

Concert Tonight at The Proto-Cathedral!
Tonight’s performance: “Dufay and Company” Sunday, May 22, 7:00pm
This is their final concert of the season! It will highlight 15th century composer Guillaume Dufay, a cosmopolitan figure whose fusion of French, Italian, and English ele-ments cultivated a new international style that would have a lasting influence on the music of the Renaissance and following centuries. This program will present an ar-ray of works from his estimable output alongside those of his Burgundian contemporaries such as Binchois, Dunsta-ble, Busnois, and Ciconia.
In Mulieribus is a female vocal ensemble dedicated to the promotion and enrich-ment of community through the art of music with a focus on works written primarily before 1750.
Tickets available at the door or online at inmulieribus.org

A Festival is coming! And YOU are invited!
This summer, on the evening of Friday, June 24, the St. James Historical Society is sponsoring a celebration to honor St. Jean-Baptiste, patron saint of French Canadians, our ancestors in faith in this area. The Friday evening celebration will begin at 5:30pm with a traditional welcoming
bonfire, followed by vesper readings about St. John’s birth. We will then adjourn to the Hall for a delicious dinner of Acadian Fare, followed by an evening of traditional music, singing and dancing, face painting & games.
