STANDARD FEATURES
• Smooth and quiet operation.
• Fully automatic gate opening and closing.
• The maximum closing force is fully adjustable and is achieved by means of monitoring the motor torque in a solid state controller.
• Magnetic breakaway.
• Automatically reverses if there is an obstruction in the gate path. (Closed direction only)
• 2 speed operation allows the gate to reduce closing speed before fully closing.
• On standard Waupaca Elevator car confi gurations, the gate opens completely and does not obstruct hoistway opening.
• Complies with Safety Code for Elevators and Escalators ASME A17.1/ ASME- A17.5/ CSA B44.1 and is an ETL listed device.
• Tooth / Cogged drive belt for consistent linear operation and improved performance.
• The gate operator has 6 standard lengths covering a range of 14" to 40 1/2" of clear opening.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Helpful Installation Hint:
– Verify the elevator car is square. – Before installing gate operator, verify accordion gate glides easily in the tracks between the open and closed
positions. If necessary, oil hinges with multipurpose oil and work accordion gate from the open to the closed position several times until it glides easily.
– Verify all hardware is securely fastened. – Locate guide block and wipe all mating magnet faces clean to ensure proper contact is made. – Lubricate glide block and guide rod to reduce noise.

1. Position the elevator car at a location where you can easily access the top of the elevator car and upper portion of gate.
2. Remove the cover by removing the two screws on the back and loosening the two screws on the front of the cover.
3. Place the auto gate operator on top of the elevator car and locate gate arm.
4. Mount the gate arm to the gate operator guide block with the provided hardware: (4) 8-32 x 9/16” screws Note: Over tightening will strip the block mounting holes.
5. Verify the operator is in its fully closed position on the limit switch. Close gate completely. Align the gate operator arm on center of gate lead post between the ridges.
6. Mark the center of the all the slots of the gate arm on to the gate lead post. Open gate to visually see the center marks. Measure between the top two and bottom two center marks verifying that they are 2” apart.
7. Drill (4) 9/32” holes perpendicular to the face of the gate lead post at each center mark carefully. Clean any debris that was created in this step.
8. Move the gate arm to the center of the elevator car opening so you have access to both sides of the lead post. Mount gate arm to the lead post of the gate using the provided hardware:

9. Return gate to the closed position. Align operator base plate edge to the face of the elevator car trim board along the whole length of the operator. Verify gate operator arm is not being bent or twisted by operator’s location on top of car.
Note: Shift gate operator left or right as needed to clear any possible obstructions. Some confi gurations my require the off set holes on the gate arm.
10. Adjust the gate operator as needed to sit fl ush on the top of the elevator car build up.
11. With the gate still in the closed position install one screw in the base of the gate operator closest to the gate switch.
12. Fully open the gate. Verify alignment of the operator base plate edge to the face of the elevator car trim board along the whole length of the operator. Also, verify the gate arm is not being bent or twisted by the operators position on top of the elevator car. With the gate still in the open position install one screw in the gate operator base closest to the motor.
Note: Verify the alignment is maintained with these two screws securely fastened.
13. Verify the ease of operation by manually sliding gate open and close between the extents a few times.

14. Secure the wiring harness to the base of the gate operator and route the wiring harness to the car top and secure.
15. MODULAR WIRING - Route Wago plugs to car top box and plug into modular board.
OR
NON-MODULAR WIRING or NON-WAUPACA ELEVATOR UNITS. (Wire per table below) Locate gate operator harness with plugs. Remove plugs and route (7) wires from the gate operator to
the car top box. Wire per chart below. Follow N.E.C. and local codes.
16. On gate operator circuit board; switch front toggle to manual. Then turn the main power switch on back of gate operator to the “ON” position to power up the gate operator.
Note: When turning operator “ON”, gate may move unexpectedly.
17. If needed, adjust the limit switch and gate switch assembly. Adjust by loosening the adjustment bolts with a ¼” box wrench and slide to desired position and secure. Verify the gate switch and limit switch both fully actuate when the gate is in closed position.
18. If needed, adjust the limit switch closest to the motor. Adjust by loosening with a 5/64” Allen wrench and slide the limit switch to the desired position and secure. Verify the limit switch fully actuates while the gate is in the open position.

19. Test run the operator by cycling the second toggle switch between the OPEN and CLOSED position. Adjust gate operator as required (reference gate operator circuit adjustment page.)
20. Verify smooth operation of the gate operator and gate through full range of travel.
21. Fully secure gate operator with the remaining mounting holes in the base of unit.
22. Test run the gate operator one last time in MANUAL mode before switching to AUTO mode. Verify smooth operation of the gate operator and gate through full range of travel and verify proper clearances and alignment.
23. Give elevator a call to verify gate operator(s) settings are correct at all fl oors in AUTO mode. If adjustment is required. (reference gate operator circuit adjustment page.)
24. Replace the cover by reinstalling the previously removed two screws on the back side and re-tighten the two screws that were loosened on the front side.

Only make adjustments if necessary and test one adjustment at a time. These settings are very sensitive! Set auto/manual switch to manual and use open/close switch to operate the unit as you make adjustments. Use 1/8” regular screwdriver to make adjustments using 1/4 turn increments (maximum).
The operation should start at one of the limit switches. Then operator should run in fast speed ¾ of the way across the opening, then transition to slow speed prior to making the limit switch.
