Production of Laminated TFS Laminated TFS for TULC(canning process) has developed

by TOYO SEIKAN group , and Nippon Steel sealed the

license contract of this Laminated TFS in 1991.

1993 : No. 1 FLL came into operation.

1994 : Supply of materials for TULC started.

1997 : No. 2 FLL came on stream.

2001 : Supplies to users overseas started.

2

From the start of production of Laminated TFS

in 1994, NSSMC’s output totaled 1.6 million tons

by 2011.

Specification of the Film Resin

Type-AGeneral PET resin is used.

Type-BPET-IA type resin is used to improve forming workability.

Type-CPBT resin is mixed into PET resin.*It reduces blushing that is liable to occur during heating (retort process) when Type-A or Type-B is used for the outside surface.

Type-DIt has a PET resin layer in the surface layer in which PE resin is dispersed.*It reduces unwanted adherence of the contents to the inside of the can when the contents are unskinned fish or some pet foods.

Measures against Blushing

PET film’s recrystallization is

progressed by retort sterilization and

other such heat treating.

When this recrystallization of PET

film does not progress uniformly,

appearance imperfections called

“blushing” (see the figure on the right

hand) occur.

Non-uniform recrystallization is liable

to occur during heat-treating

involving steam, such as retort

sterilizing.

22

Fig. Appearance of “blushing.”

23

Improvement of “Blushing”“Blush-free Film” has been established by the application of a

film which recrystallizes at a fast rate.

NSSMC has developed this technology by joint study.

Ref. Comparison in Anti-Blushing Property

In the boiling-water immersion test, color changes occur

on the interface between the gas phase and the liquid

phase in the other two companies’ materials, the NSSCM

material is virtually free of such a phenomenon.

Conclusion PLT is possible use in a various usage and has good

performance.

PLT is the material that does not include the regulation fears substance. (ex. BPA, BADGE, BFDGE, NOGE )

If PTL is used the discharge quantity cut of such as CO2 gas is produced. (ex. TULC by TOYO SEIKAN is the object of an ECO-LEAF mark in Japan (ISO14025).

PLT is the material that has an excellent prospect.

NSSMC can support the technology to the use of PLT

by various experiences and evaluation equipment.
