Hitherfield RoadChildren in Years 1 to 5 will have received a leaflet this week (Year 6 on Monday) asking you to contribute to the survey about the School Street closure on Hitherfield Road. If you have not done so please respond via this web page https://tinyurl.co./y5nrb9ys using the password on your leaflet. Please can you make sure your children are not kicking the wheels of our neighbours’ cars and that you do not park in the disabled parking bays as some of our neighbours are getting rather upset.
Welcome Back Year 6We are looking forward to welcoming back Year 6 on Monday 7th December. We currently have every other year group in school and hope to be completely full again on Monday - fingers crossed. We hope that the Tier 2 restrictions in London will be sufficient to prevent another
increase in Covid infections and that we do not have to close any more bubbles before the Christmas holiday.

THE HISTORY OF MEMy name is NIA which means purpose.I am determined, independent, grateful, intelligent, happy, kind, sad, angry, playful, and mischievous.I wrote a poem to remind people of black history, which is just history to me.Bessie Coleman was determined and independentShe soared through the sky,She was the first black female pilotWho earned her license to fly.She was born in Atlanta in 1892,She had to overcome racism, sexism, and many obstacles to do what she wanted to.Mary Seacole was kind, helpful, strong, smart, focussed, grateful for her privileges,She helped the injured soldiers during the Crimean war.She had a sense of humour that made the soldiers laugh,She used traditional medicines from Jamaica as her healing craft.Celebration has been part of our culture since ancient African times,Festivals, food, music, masquerade, costumes, and rhymes.Drums are like the beat of the soul of the people no matter where they are,Across the gigantic ocean to lands so far.The Notting Hill Carnival is a good example of this,it has been around since the year 1966.Bringing different communities together, celebrating Caribbean culture, embracing what makes us diverseand realising it’s not a curse.History is something we all need to know,It’s important to learn that you matter as well.My name is Nia and I am a descendant of African kings and queens,Purpose, resilience, determination and respect are all in my genes!

There are times when we are all under stress but while conflict is part of family life for everyone, sometimes difficulties between parents – whether they are living together or have separated - can get in the way of being able to manage life at your best. If you are experiencing conflict with your partner, or your ex-partner, there may be a lack of warmth or emotional connection between you, or rows and arguments that get stuck or become out of control; you might find that these happen often and are hard to sort out by yourselves. Whether together or separated, how we interact with each other as parents has a big impact on our children – on their mental and physical health, problems at school, sleep difficulties and the relationships they themselves make as they grow up.
A new programme called ‘Building Relationships for Stronger Families’ has been launched in your area. The programme offers parents free support, via a helpful course selected to suit your circumstances to address conflict within your relationship as well as strengthening your parenting skills to bring up your children.
In arguments, do you find yourself saying: =-
Building Relationships for Stronger Families
Being a parent can be challenging – but when your relationship with your partner, or your ex-partner, isn’t going well it’s even tougher.
You always do this You don’t
support me
You always overreact
It’s always down to me
It’s your fault
You don’t know how I feel
• Free tailored support with a dedicated practitioner
• Programmes that range from 4 – 10 weeks
• Sessions can be arranged during the day, in the evenings or at the weekends
• Sessions delivered locally to where you live
• Travel costs reimbursed up to 90 minutes
You never listen

At times we all need a little bit of help or support as a family. Help is out there and it is okay to ask for help with your
relationship with your partner or your ex-partner.

Courses are free and support will be offered online by webcam (on your laptop, smartphone, tablet or desktop computer) during times of social distancing measures. Once social distancing is over, where possible, support may be offered in your home or local community.
Parents are encouraged to commit fully to the course in order to gain the most benefit.
Sessions range from individual one-on-one, to group sessions between 6 to 12 parents depending on your particular needs.
Programmes are open to all eligible parents, mothers and fathers, and same-sex parents. These opportunities are for couples who are together in a relationship or those who are separated.
PrivacyWe only share information in accordance with our Privacy Notice and Consent forms which you will be given as part of the referral process.
How can we help? The ‘Building Relationships for Stronger Families’ programme may be able to help you if you feel that stress and conflict in your relationship are affecting your family.
The programme offers parents support to suit their circumstances to address conflict within their relationship, as well as strengthening their parenting skills to bring up their children.
Support can be individually, with your partner/co-parent, or in group sessions delivered by experienced facilitators who are skilled in encouraging discussion around the modern struggles that parents and couples face.
During the programme, you will work on your relationship, whether you are together or separate, and find ways to manage stresses and disagreements. You will explore patterns of behaviour to develop tools and techniques to improve your parenting skills and help your family succeed.
How to get help? If you live in one of the specified London boroughs, you can refer yourself online via the Parenting Together website: https://tavistockrelationships.org/free-services
You don’t need to have a key worker to refer yourself, but if you have a key worker working with you, speak to them about the programme. They can help you to complete a questionnaire which asks you for details about your relationship and your circumstances.
Your questionnaire is sent to the programme, and a parenting practitioner will be in touch to arrange a meeting at a time and place that is suitable, or to arrange an online meeting by webcam.
When you meet you’ll talk through your questionnaire in more detail and together you will agree a plan to support you, based on your circumstances and the needs you identify.
If you haven’t got a key worker working with you, please don’t let this stop you getting the support you need, the programme is open to all parents in the specified London boroughs.
What can I expect?+ Support that is tailored to you+ Support that is proven to improve relationships+ A supportive and experienced professional+ Delivered at a time and place to suit you+ A quick response
Relationships matterBeing a parent is tough. Being a parent when your relationship with your partner or ex-partner isn’t going well is even tougher.
There are times when we are all under stress but whilst conflict is part of normal family life, sometimes it can become destructive and get in the way of managing everyday life.
Conflict between couples might range from lack of warmth or emotional connection to shouting or swearing at each other. Often this can be frequent, intense and poorly resolved.
How parents interact with each other, regardless of whether they are together or separated, has a big impact on their children.
Evidence shows that parental conflict has a negative impact on children, particularly in terms of mental health, problems at school, sleep difficulties and poorer health.
Courses are free and run locally or online via webcam. Contact us now for details... [email protected] 020 7380 6099 https://TavistockRelationships.org/free-services
Please note that this service is only on offer to residents and those who access services in the following London boroughs: Westminster, Kensington & Chelsea, Camden, Hammersmith & Fulham, Croydon, Brent and Lambeth.
