Psychographics and Demographics

Psychographics: This is the statistical data relating to the population and particular

groups within it .

The two categories that would be necessary for my local newspaper would be Resigned and Reformers , one reason for this is because people in the resigned category tend to be of older age so these stereotypically tend to be the people who buy newspapers regularly . Also reformers tend to be the type of people who buy newspapers to find out what is going on in the local area , they are anti-materialistic of some content but are aware of good taste that the newspaper contains.

Demographics: This is the study and classification of people according to their

attitudes, aspirations, and other psychological criteria, especially in market research.

For my local newspaper the type of people I expect to read and buy my newspaper would be people from both category C and D . The main reason behind this is that my newspaper will be a local newspaper of which local people would be buying , so this would include people such as nurses , white collar jobs and also lower standard jobs (skilled jobs) plumbers , builders etc. This is because these people are more likely to buy and read the local newspapers , because people in category A and B would be more likely to read broadsheet newspapers such as The Guardian , Financial Times and The Independent.
