Psychology is the
scientific study of the
human MIND (psyche)
and its functions, esp.
those affecting
behavior
Okay, well what is science?
• Science is the systematic
study of the natural world
through observation and
experimentation
Psychology is a difficult science
• Because scientists can’t directly observe the mind.
• Because the brain is the most complex structure in the known universe
