Objetivo Youth participants are invited to reflect and identify all recommendations and important social issues of importance, then present and defend them before policymakers.

Description

Its purpose is to allow the exchange and dialogue between young Europeans who share a commitment to social and policy makers.

Youth participants are invited to reflect and identify all of the recommendations and points to watch on social issues, then present and defend them in on open dialogue and re-‐examine the following exchanges with elected officials. In the end, they will retain and compile a set of proposals from the meeting, which will be published by each delegation and posted on the websites of partners as well as spread through social networks.

Opening discussions between young Europeans allow them to discover their differences and similarities, share their experiences and allow them to compare their views with those of policy makers which is the main objective of this meeting.


The democratic aspect will be experienced especially through the vote of the recommendations worked during the seminar, through political debate and exchange with local elected officials in a parliamentary session scenario in the Council General of the Upper Rhine. Reflections and recommendations of youth selected at the end of the stay will be presented and discussed at a public meeting with elected officials and citizens.

Activities

Seminar in Mulhouse, France, 21st of October 2014 – 24th of October 2014

The first day of the seminar, exchange time led by the young express network will make the seminar topics emerge from the intersection of ideas from all participants. We assume that probably will be among the topics discussed:

• employability • orientation • vocational training • civic engagement • democracy • respect for human rights • Sustainable Development

The program will run smoothly: a Space Home and Evaluation Area will frame a debate space. The Debate Room consists of discussion time and creation, punctuated by moments of dialogue with elected officials. Evenings and informal moments are part of the program. Debate space The method chosen to bring out the debate is the method of Open Space (Open Space Technology) Creating space In this space, participants resume their findings, the initial research and discussions with elected officials to express themselves in an artistic work. They will stay in their thematic groups (groups may merge if need or want). The workshops will be presented the next morning to elect the city and the metropolitan area of Mulhouse. The workshops are led by young artists from partner delegations. Assessment As in the home participants will be invited to speak at their own pace and through different methods on the seminar in these organizational aspects, objectives, personal or seminar and skills acquired during the encounter. Elements of the Home Space, such as "expectations and fears" will be reused. Methods The working methods that we will apply are based on a number of principles developed by the Youth Express Network:


Participation of all, no participant should be left on the wayside, excluded or discriminated against. All points of view are important. This participation is requested in work in small groups, workshops, simulation games. The meeting focuses on the participants in terms of both content and methods. It is based not only on the needs and interests of the participants but also takes into account their creative, critical and reflective. They will combine different methods to meet the diverse needs and work culture of the participants. There will be formal moments, times of studio work, interactive games, knowledge, cooperation, simulation, sports, time to discover the city. A safe working environment will be implemented: one place for hours of work, fun ways to get to know the first day and break the ice, free time to allow befallen ease of familiarity.

Convocatoria Youth in Action: Support for European cooperation in the field of youth

Description

The "Listening to You (th)" project involves other organizations from 6 European countries in an action of “Meetings of young people and those responsible for youth policy” designed to promote implementation of the EU framework on youth policies between different countries.

Each partner organization initiated in close collaboration with the leading organization of the project a group of study to analyze the focus points of the European framework on youth policies. The analysis will lead to the development of a questionnaire that targets youth, frame target population within the target region of each partner. The questionnaire investigated the lifestyles, aspirations and needs of local youth in the key areas identified by the European framework: education and training, employment and entrepreneurship, health and welfare, participation, volunteering, social inclusion, international mobility, creativity and culture.

The target of this form will be younger people, 18-‐30 years old and residents in the region of each partner. Each partner is expected to provide a sample of at least 100 questionnaires.

The results of the survey and analysis of regional initiatives will be shared during the seminar "Listening to You (th)", which was held in Italy in April 2014. The comparison of the results will highlight the similarities and differences in the contexts analyzed: the capacity and the regional authorities to meet the needs of local youth and EU guidelines on youth policy. The evidence gathered in the workshop will be summarized in the final report "Listening to You (th)." The latter is disseminated through the communication channels of the partners and will be the basis for a promotion campaign to run in each territory the promotion will target socio-‐oriented guide to the competent authorities in the field of youth policy through the creation of a strategy for the implementation of the European framework, taking into account the expectations and needs of the target population: Young residents of each region.


Activities

The "Listening to you (th)" project in order to make a real contribution to the process of European cooperation in the youth field, offers a number of specific activities, namely:

-‐ Creation of group study / work in each project sponsor, the aim is to analyze the European framework on youth policies and the subsequent promotion action at the regional level to implement policies in line with this framework.

-‐ Preparation of questionnaire to target youth, the target population of this framework on the local and regional levels, within the communication channels of the promoter. The questionnaire explores the lifestyles, aspirations and needs of young receivers in the key areas identified by the European framework: education and training, employment and entrepreneurship, health and welfare, participation, volunteering , social inclusion, international mobility, creativity and culture.

-‐ Research, selection and collection initiatives in the field of youth policy, launched by the regional administration, which are consistent with the guidelines promoted by the European Commission. Shall, in particular: how disclosure of this type of initiative, the ability of these initiatives for the effective participation of the youth population, the results produced.

-‐ Preparing and drafting a summary document will be collected, where the results of the evaluation questionnaire and the parallel analysis of regional initiatives. The paper will seek to highlight the extent to which the initiatives launched a regional leader in the field of youth, and the guidelines issued by the European institutions.

-‐ Organization of the seminar listening (th). Once carried out the scanning activity in the territories of the promoters involved in the project activities will be organized an international seminar aims to bring together and compare 30 people and youth experts and policy makers on the issue of European cooperation in the field of youth policy. The seminar will host a representative from each promoter and requires the submission of the report by the partners. The results of the work, in fact, represent the starting point of the international seminar, which aims to be an opportunity to give life to a moment of true participation of youth in changing the actions and policies to them. In this regard, the seminar includes the participation of young people, and representatives of the project sponsors (2 representatives from each partner) also provides for the involvement and participation of policy makers at various levels. The idea is that through the comparison and analysis of the results can lead to a number of activities that may influence some of the behavior and actions of policy makers seeking to implement in practice dialogue structured youth should be promoted and developed more fully and urgently. The comparison will highlight the similarities and differences of the various local, regional and national representatives.

Descripción

Regarding the alarming low turnout rate in European elections in some countries where voting is not compulsory and the democratic deficit it causes across Europe, the present project aims at restoring electoral faith among EU citizens by addressing the four main causes for low electoral participation found in collaboration with our partner towns: the lack of interest and of knowledge of the democratic workings of the EU, the mistrust towards European institutions and the lack of sense of belonging to Europe.

The project will be coordinated by the Municipality of Geraci Siculo. 10 partner countries will be involved, especially including those showing a low turnout rate for a more effective outreach, i.e. Slovenia (20%), Poland (22%), Hungary (29%), Portugal (34,5%) and Bulgaria (35,5%). The project will consist in 4 events respectively taking place in Italy, Hungary, Germany and Poland. They will involve over 400 citizens, experts, students, local stakeholders and decision makers. The main target group is represented by young citizens (under 25 y.o) as the low turnout level appears to be a permanent generational effect. The second target group is represented by people under 65 y.o. During the events, the participants will be encouraged to share experiences, best practices and opinions through activities


of different methodology (workshop, seminar, role play, documentary and interactive technology) during which they will experience the importance of active participation and cooperation within the EU and, ultimately, be encouraged to actively take part in its democratic life. The main goals are:

• To give to citizens the opportunity to interact in the construction of an even closer and democratic Europe, thus fostering the active EU citizenship;

• To develop long-‐lasting cooperation between towns and citizens by creating a plate-‐form aiming at improving for civic and democratic participation at Union level.

Activities

The working methods applying within implementation of the project:

The events have each time a different methodology: formal education, mediated workshop, role play and interactive technology (Internet plate-‐form with e.g. documentary)).

The four events are coherent to the project’s objectives.

Event 1

Location: Geraci Siculo, Italy

Host partner: municipality

Target: mainly to citizens under the age of 30 and between 30-‐65. About 100 participants in total with 30 foreign participants selected.

Duration: 2 days for travel + 2 days (kick off + press conference + introductive discussion).

We will start with a kick-‐off meeting to which will attend 2/3 representatives per partner organization followed by a press conference.

In order to manage the project at its best, Poland, one of our partner countries, will create an Internet plate-‐form which will be presented since it will serve, among others, as a help-‐desk for partners during the project implementation. Further uses of the plate-‐form will be mentioned under the event 4.

The meeting open to the local community will be an introductive discussion aiming at minimizing the distance between people and politics. The main focus is put on the importance of voting at European level. In this respect, the motivational issues as to why electors should participate will be addressed, each time by using concrete examples of how politics affects our everyday life. The misconception of the ineffectiveness of going to the polls will also be tackled.

Event 2

Host partner: municipality cooperating with university

Location: Budapest, Hungary

Target group: citizens under the age of 30 and between 30-‐65 years old, about 80 participants in total with about 24 foreign participants selected.

Duration: 2 days for travel + 2 days of event


2-‐3 representatives per partner organization will attend the event.

The meeting open to the local community emphasizes on the democratic workings of the EU. A conference on the different modes of civic participation will be held in Hungary, presenting among others how the European Parliament (EP) work and where the EP electoral processes into how the EU is run.

Event 3

Location: Bremen, Germany

Host partner: Research institute

Target group: mainly from under to 65 years old, with a particular focus on people between 30 and 65, about 60 participants in total with about 20 foreign participants selected.

Duration: 2 days for travel + 2 days of event

2-‐3 representatives per partner organization will attend the event.

Local "project guides" (artists/experts) introduce the participants to local problems with European dimensions of their interest (e.g. local inclusion) and lead playful workshops with the group. The participants create solutions by integrating actual and future EU policies and options for citizens’ participation. A final plenary session presents the results and proposals to be forwarded to politicians, EU, government, NGOs, etc.

Event 4

Location: Krakow, Poland

Host partner: NGO

Target group: from under 30 to 65 years old, with a main focus on those under 30. About 100 participants in total with about 30 foreign participants selected.

Duration: 2 days for travel + 2 days of event 2-‐3 representatives per partner organization will attend the event. A flash mob aims at promoting the project.

Part of the event organized by Poland is also a documentary made up of pictures, images and videos recorded during the whole project in all partner countries, showing participants voting, holding speeches, and actively taking part in the political system. This film will adopt an innovative approach through its narration style and an in-‐depth synthesis of analysis of the sociological, psychological, economic, political, juridical and theological aspects of the different participating countries.

The film will be posted on the Internet plate-‐form also created by the host country where further audiovisual materials such as interactive educational video games (e.g. audio puzzles, songs, etc.) will be made available to support learning about EU citizenship by playing. The plate-‐form will also provide a project manual for libraries and educational centers across Europe and also form national networks for online collaboration after the project. Event 4 will also propose a round table among the partners to discuss the results.

Convocatoria Erasmus +: Mobility among young workers Presupuesto del Proyecto / Objetivo This project aims to highlight the multidimensional needs of all

students and education agencies involved in multicultural environments, and to explore the teaching methods used by teachers and how they serve intercultural communication.

Description

The project is designed to help young educators who wish to develop their knowledge on the principles of intercultural education and teaching in multicultural environments. Participants will learn alternative teaching methods that relate to modern pedagogy, will experience self-‐assessment techniques and will reveal the connection of stereotypes and prejudices to socially vulnerable groups.

The project objectives are:

• To develop a set of skills and knowledge that helps participants become more effective in their work, giving them a significant advantage in the job market

• To demonstrate how the educational system should avoid the imposition of a one-‐dimensional cultural model and minimize xenophobia and racism

• Specifically for young and / or prospective teachers, this project is designed to help understand the importance of their role in the situation experienced by education

• To give to those who are called to teach in multicultural environments, a tool for better management of the student population and classroom

• To help teachers acquire new characteristics such as autonomy and self-‐improvement as well as critical analysis and self-‐assessment of their own teaching practices

• Promoting intercultural education model and principles as the most efficient, especially in rooms that can accommodate students from different cultural backgrounds

• Through knowledge of the countries, it aims to promote intercultural dialogue and the development of values such as acceptance of diversity and tolerance


• The emergence of European citizenship as an essential factor in strengthening cooperation both among members of the European countries and partner countries

The ultimate goal of the project is the creation of a common international practice teaching.

Activities

The activities of the training course, except those who need us to be outdoors or in the city of Patras, are planned to take place in the hotel hall which will be rent for the exact purpose.

The working method mainly used is the project-‐based problem solving method, where the participants are given an issue-‐problem, they work out on the information given or create their own idea and last they present the results to the rest.

Day 1

• Introduction activity, Ice breaking discussion: Needs, issues and objectives of the participants, acquaintance of participants and trainers, discussing educational issues that concern the participants

• Educational Background: Knowledge and skills of the participants regarding pedagogic methods and informal learning

• Visiting a school or educational organisation of Patras actively involved in Intercultural Programmes • Cultural activity: Visiting the city of Patras’ most significant monuments, cultural information • Intercultural Night: Presenting countries, tradition and habits

Day 4

• Discussing prejudices, stereotypes, xenophobia, racism: Impact on the society, efforts to prevent them • Drawing a social collage about stereotypes and social vulnerable group, Understanding the connections of

them • Use of New Technologies in school life: New technologies for promoting interculturalism in multicultural

school environments

Day 5
