OBJETIVE

The objective of my project is to use the grammar and vocabulary learned in basic level and announce about the activities in the holy week in Ayacucho, Perú.

INTRODUCTION

I’ll talk about holy week in Ayacucho Perú.

The holy week is a typical and religious holiday in Perú, exactly in Huamanga, Ayacucho. Usually the Holiday start the last days of march and ends the first days of april. It’s happend to during a week.

In this festival go out many processions during the week, for example, It’s start with holy Friday, called “El Señor de la Agonía” then go out “El Señor de Ramos” in Sunday, It´s called holy Sunday.

In Monday and Tuesday go out two processions, “Señor del Huerto” in Holy Monday and “Señor de la Sentencia” in Holy Tuesday. These processions aren´t popular in the holy week but the faithfuls accompany the processions.

The principal day during this week is holy Wednesday because this day go out Jesus de Nazareno’s processions; this is the master in Ayacucho and the most representative. This day there are a lot of people that see or accompany the processions and this favorite day of the tourist. It´s

The Holy Thursday, the people go out to the streets because they must visit seven churches in this night, it’s the tradition, in this day the central streets are crowded.

The Holy Friday is the day most sad in this week because leave “Santo Sepulcro”, this procession represent the Cristos’s death, when this procession leave to turn off all the lights in the city and the people turn on only candles, the show is beautiful.

In the Holy Saturday don´t leave processions, it’s a party’s day from morning until afternoon, there are many partys, for example “Pascua Toro”, food‘s festivals and the Acuchimay’s fair, in the night there are a lot of partys in different places, Usually the partys last all night until holy Sunday morning.

Holy Sunday is the last day of the holy week, this day leave the Señor de la Resurección’s processions It’s the most big procession all the world y one the most beautiful too, it weights many tons. It has six meters of height, two meters of width and fifteen meters of long. This is carry by two hundred persons approximately. This procession leave at 5:00 in the morning and go for a walk around the central park.
