Professor Deborah Bailey FRACSCo-Convener

Mr Sanjeev Naidu FRACSCo-Convener

Dear colleagues,

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to attend the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Queensland State Conference 2021.

The Conference will be held on the Sunshine Coast at Peppers Noosa Resort & Villas, from Friday 19 November to Sunday 21 November 2021.

The Conference theme ‘Urgent Surgery: Is Queensland Ready?” will bring us together to improve care of our patients now and beyond. We are formulating a diverse scientific program that will cater for all interests with lively debates on emergency theater access across the state, generalism in future training and speciality access in regional areas.

Pre-Conference events include the QASM seminar “Timing is Everything” and the Statewide Surgical Services Forum with Queensland Health. The Directors of Surgery Forum, which was such a stand out success of networking last year, is back again this year. The Neville Davis and RACS Papers Prize finals for the students, juniors and future surgeons will also be held during the Conference.

We aim to repeat and build on the success of our last meeting in 2019 at the Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort, Gold Coast. For those who were unable to attend our last Conference and for those who enjoyed the Gold Coast, we encourage you all to join us for the weekend and catch up with colleagues after these extraordinary times. Of course some will need to stay behind to do the emergency surgery!

We look forward to welcoming you to the Queensland State Conference 2021 in the Sunshine Coast.

Warm regards,

Welcome
