providing comfort, caringand compassion,,,beyond the call of duty"
Home Away From Home
Since 1990 Fisher Houses have been serving military families during times of medical crisis.
These comfort homes are built by the Fisher House Foundation, Inc., and given as gifts to
the military Services and the Department of Veterans Affairs. The Army is the proud recipient
of 17 of the 46 existing Fisher Houses that serve service men and women around the world.
The Fisher House Foundation was established by noted philanthropist and patriot Zachary Fisheri I K I his wife, Elizabeth. Zachary passed away in June 1999, but his nephew, Arnold Fisher, and his
j;rand-nephew, Ken Fisher, continue to build Fisher Houses and carry on Zachary's legacy of helpingmilitary men and women and their families.

Within walking distance of the hospital is a comfortable temporary home, filled withwarm, caring people who help family members endure the stresses associated with a loved one'sserious medical condition. The Fisher House enables families to stay together, cook meals, dolaundry, and relax in a "home away from home" atmosphere. There are no other facilities onm i l i t a r y installations which provide this caring, compassionate environment. The nominal serviceIce- charged Fisher House guests is lower than other on-base lodging and much lower than off-basehole-Is. While we all wish there were no need for Fisher Houses, the reality of life is that thousandsol .ie l ive duty and retired military and veterans' families are served each year by this wonderfulnt'twe)rk of beautiful homes!
