WHAT WE ARE A unique 1 year program for students who have met their high

school academic requirements for graduation A program for students seeking an additional year of schooling

in transition to workforce or post-secondary schooling A program to help develop employment skills and become

more informed about individual life and career choices A place to continue to learn in a non-traditional setting located

on a college campus while participating in work based internships and community events

A place where students benefit from a vocational based curriculum and work based learning to continue the development of their transitional skills

We are Not: a fifth year of high school

WHERE ARE WE? We are located at he Friedman Center at JWU Harborside

Campus Education in Action in partnership with the Providence

School Dept provides us space t and resources to operate the Academy

Students are not attending JWU - They have JWU ID’s, use campus facilities such as the REC Center, Computer Lab and space at Education in Action, but do not attend college classes

WHO CAN APPLY Students between age 18-21 Have an IEP Met all academic requirements for high school

graduation Be ORS eligible Have a completed vocational evaluation prior to

leaving high school Student who needs assistance in the area of

transition, specifically seeking employment skills and transition knowledge to become work ready

Is motivated to attend and participate in all required activities of the Academy
