> We hosted our first Parent‐Teacher Conference of the yearwith a record turnout, and celebrated the beginning of theschool year with a PCRHS Family Cook‐Out sponsored by theParent Club. > Our students have had the chance to visit with a number ofcollege representatives during the first months of schoolincluding Ball State , Purdue, Indiana University, St. Mary'sand Holy Cross; and hear inspiring talks from special guests. Four­time Olympic Gold Medalist and advocate for School Choice, Lisa Leslie,spoke to the PCRHS student body about setting goals and planning for the future.She also signed autographs and posed for pictures. In her talk she told students:

"You can achieve anything in life; you just have to prepare for it.""I am not considered one of the best because I am tall, but because Ipracticed and worked hard. I had perseverance to be the best." "I never wanted to be seen as a basketball player, but wanted to be seen assomeone who was educated.""Keep God first, pray, and write down your goals. "

PCRHS Alum Kicks Off Industry Speaker Series

PCRHS 2014 graduate Jaylan Anderson kicked off anew "Industry Speaker Series" telling students thatthey needed to make the most of the Corporate WorkStudy experience. Anderson spoke on behalf of hisemployer Defenders, a Corporate Work StudyPartner. Anderson worked for Defenders while

Student to 4­H Leaders: "Iwant to be a Judge."

When representatives from the Purdue 4­H Extension Office recently visited PCRHSSenior Keyara Warren told the group that she hopes to become a judge. ProvidenceCristo Rey hosted the group for its annual meeting that included a tour of the school and apresentation by Warren and Corporate Work Study Director Cindy Thompson.

Students Write Reflections About Holocaust

Thanks to a special scholarship from the CANDLES Holocaust Museum, ourSophomore and Juniors spent a day in Terre Hautelistening and learning from Eva Mozes Kor, 81, aHolocaust survivor. After the trip students wrotereflections for their English class. Commentsincluded: "Eva Kor never let darkness in her head andstayed positive." "I think she will remain one of thestrongest women I have and ever will meet," "EvaKor is an inspiration, a forgiver, a survivor." Thank you to CANDLES Holocaust Museum andEva Kor.
