Abena’s Protective Wear concept has been developed in close cooperation with the end user, care staff and our own nurse specialists. We strive to deliver the best solution for hospitals, nursing homes and clinics.

Abena offer a wide range of protective wear products and we are constantly searching to improve and develop our products. We guarantee that all relevant standards are met and additional tests are made.

Protective Wear

§Legislation for the protective wear products:

¡ Abena Protective Wear in the EU can be marked as Medical Device or as Personal Protective Equipment.

Medical Device Directive ¡ Intended for use in the medical field to

protect patient and user against transfer of infective agents and to stop contamination.

¡ Class I

Abena is responsible for ensuring that the protective wear products comply with requirements of the MDD Medical Device Dire-ctive 93/42/EEC.

Personal Protective Equipment Directive

¡ Clothing including protectors that covers or replaces personal clothing, and which is designed to provide protection against hazards.

¡ Category I, low risk of working tasks.

¡ Abena is responsible for ensuring that protective wear products comply with requirements of the PPE Personal Protecti-ve Equipment Directive, 89/686/EEC.

Our Protective Wear concept comes in two different qualities. Classic for standard, good quality products for everyday needs and Excellent is recommended for high performance and when you search for products of an exceptional quality.

Product guide - which product should be used?

§ Material:Our protective wear collection is made of either PP or SMS.

¡ PP, spunbond polypropylene standard protection formed by bonding fibers together to form a single layer of breathable woven-like material. Its main advantages are economy and comfort, and it provides protection against light fluids.

¡ PP/PE, spunbond polypropylene coated with a layer of imperious polyethylene (PE). The material protects against a high level of fluids.

¡ SMS is a 3-ply material with one-layer of melt blown PP bonded between 2 layers of PP. It is a strong and breathable material with moderate fluid resistance. SMS has a good mix of comfort and protection.

All products are latex free

Disposable bibs are easy to use and provides good protection against fluids and food. Avoid change of clothes.

Washable bibs are available in two sizes – one for adults and one for children.
