The most common motives or arson include vandalism, excitement, revenge, crime-concealment, proft, and extremism. The FBI reported that a total o 43,412 arsons reported in 2010 2 . • Structural arson was the most requently reported arson c ategory in 2010, accounting or almost hal (45.5%) o all arsons. • These incidents resulted in monetary loss o $197 million with 385 persons injured and 157 killed. • The average dollar loss due to arson was $17, 512. • Industrial/manuacturing structures resulted in an average loss o $133,717 per arson. • Arson had a higher percentage o juvenile involvement than any other oense tracked in the FBI's National Crime Index. (IAAI) is an association o more than 7,500 fre investigation proessionals rom across the world, united by a strong commitment to suppress the crime o arson through proessional fre investigation.
