Some Case Studies

Natural History Museum , Europe

Situated in a major European city in Western Europe this monumental building

structure of metal and glass receives over a million visitors each year.

This new museum building selected AppVision PSIM™ in order to simultaneously

manage the flow of visitors and employee access while protecting its 4 permanent

exhibitions of over 3000m2.

Using open architecture integration AppVision PSIM™ provides the control room with

full integration and management of existing video surveillance systems, intruder

detectors, access control as well as very specific security tools and tags for the

artifacts and exhibitions. This now allows the museums security team to have a global

real-time view of the whole site with full control of all security systems, while being

able to instantly capture, validate and process events and incidents quietly. All while

efficiently ensuring its visitors enjoy their visit in safety.

Grand Palais. Exhibition and Gallery, Paris, France

This magnificent and historic building was built in 1897 in the style of in the style of

Beaux-Arts architecture. The Parisian resistance used the Grand Palais as a

headquarters during the Liberation of Paris in 1944.

It now hosts about 250 exhibition per year in collaboration with museums from all

around the world, and attracts more than 2 million visitors annually. The biggest

exhibitions are organized in the main rooms : the Nave (13 500m2), the VIP lounge

and many more galleries for a whole surface of 77 000m2.

AppVision PSIM™ provides the security management for this important site by

integrating intruder alarm and artifact security alongside video surveillance. A special

AppVision PSIM™ configuration was developed to allow for the easy reconfiguration

of the exhibition security systems mapping and PSIM management. The exhibition

walls are frequently moved to meet different size and shape requirements for events.

This also means that the physical security systems also frequently move around and

have to be mapped in AppVision PSIM™.

Art Museum , Europe

Built in 1797, this site is one of Europe’s oldest provincial museums with collections of

European arts from the 15th to 20th century including 2 000 paintings, 700

sculptures, 10 000 drawings and 50 000 wood engravings.

AppVision PSIM™ provides the security management for this important site by

integrating intruder alarm and artifact security alongside video surveillance.

Open architecture integration ensures that full integration and management of

security systems remain free of technical and political barriers for new integrations

that a project may need. This includes being able to integrate, deploy and manage all

systems even from competing suppliers.

AppVision PSIM™ also watches the security personnel and audits every intervention

and action they make for later forensic analysis and statistics.

This museum first opened in 1838 in buildings previously belonging to a nearby

priory of which it still shares a common garden.

The museum contains major paintings by Jean-Dominique Ingres (among which the

monumental "Jupiter and Thetis"), an authentic self-portrait by Rembrandt and works

by Anthony van Dyck, Paul Cézanne, Alberto Giacometti and Nicolas de Staël.

integrating intruder alarms, artifact security, fire alarms, access control automatically

linked to video surveillance in the control room where AppVision PSIM™ excels in

Fondation Van Gogh in Arles, France

Important WW2 World Heritage Site,

Some heritage sites are for remembering the atrocities of the past in the hope that

humanity never falls so low again.

This site of world heritage status has deployed AppVision PSIM™ for integration and

security management of this important site by integrating perimeter protection and

intruder alarms with automated workflow triggers for video surveillance in the

AppVision PSIM™ video wall

« During a crisis, PSIM systems help to overcome the difficulties a

human has in gathering information and making essential decisions »

The gallery is housed in the Hôtel Léautaud de Donines, a 15th-century manor house

restored and extended with a striking contemporary addition and interior space by

Fluor architects, in the medieval quarter of Méjan. The yellow house of where Van

Gogh lived for a time with fellow artist Paul Gauguin. (house no longer standing; is

the painting of the same name now in the Amsterdam museum) Though they

inspired each other, they also argued, with such passion that it led to Van Gogh

famously cutting off his left earlobe. And Arles was where he was incarcerated in the

hospital - also immortalised in paintings - towards the end of his life.

AppVision PSIM™ provides the security management for this important site by

integrating artifact security tags, intruder alarms with automated workflow for video

surveillance. In such projects the device would automatically trigger the nearest cctv

camera to display on the AppVision PSIM™ video wall, and then prompt the operator

to follow the established handling procedures.
