LEARNINGEXPERIENCEBlended Learning
The Learning Revolution @ Taylor’s College
LEARN ANYTIME, ANYWHERE
Blended Learning is one of the innovative ways of transforming our students’ learning experience hereat Taylor’s College. It is a teachingand learning method that is often mediated with the usage of computers or other advanced technologies like iPads, tablets or smartphones, used as learning tools. As such, teaching and learning can now take place outside the classrooms and at flexible hours.
Classroom hours are now combined with interactive online learning systems such as Moodle, Edmodo and various iPad apps that allow a richer and more effective learning experience.
The landscape for learning has changed tremendously over the years. Students are no longer obliged to constrain themselves to acquiring knowledge from sources within the scheduled lessons and from their teachers. Learning is revolutionised with the development of more and more sophisticated technology, making information and knowledge accessible anytime, anywhere, catering to the different learning styles and needs of individuals.
At Taylor’s College, this is the essence of our learning experience. Teachers are learning facilitators; students are geared to become lifelong learners who take pride and ownership in their learning success. Learning is no longer confined within the four walls of a classroom but at ‘The Learning Spaces’ where students are free to learn with and from one another. This is learning at Taylor’s. This is the Taylor’s Learning Revolution.

OUR TAYLOR’S GRADUATE CAPABILITIES
Each student has their preferred learning style - kinesthetic, auditory, visual or a combination of several of Howard Gardner’s multiple intelligences.
LEARNING REVOLUTION pg.5
PersonalisedLearningMAKING LEARNING EFFECTIVE FOR YOU
With a vision to make learning more effective and efficient, we have personalised our teaching and learning for you. The Taylor’s learning environment is one that is catered to meet the needs and aspirations of unique individuals, as no two individuals are the same.
Understanding that every student comes with multiple intelligence (linguistic, logical, bodily-kinesthetic, spatial, interpersonal, intrapersonal, musical, naturalist and existential) and also different learning styles – be it visual, auditory or kinesthetic – teachers offer various teaching methods to meet students’ needs
and preferred learning style, enabling them to learn more effectively.
With support from tools like the iPad, students are able to understand their subject matter using multiple senses – sight, sound and touch/movement. This makes their learning a more personal one in which they are able to better connect with the content at hand. The iPad also allows students to obtain information at a touch of their fingertips, improving student engagement in the classroom, and in turn enhancing their comprehension, thinking and creative skills.

CollaborativeLearningSTUDENTS LEARN BEST FROM INTERACTION
We believe that students learn best in interactions with one another. As such, Collaborative Learning is a common learning culture amongst our students. Taylor’s classrooms’ setup comprise of tables and chairs arranged in cluster format to help facilitate this kind oflearning.
With help from their peers, students will debate, share resources, solve problems as a team, sharpen and also motivate one another which inculcates a wider worldview and critical thinking as well as teamwork. At Taylor’s, peer-to-peer tutoring is another initiative that helps students to learn from one another and demonstrate mastery when they are able to comprehensively teach a subject.

CHARACTER BUILDING THROUGH COMPREHENSIVE CURRICULUM
The SAM curriculum places emphasis on a balanced assessment, developing life-long learners, communication and development of good character. Students are groomed to think and develop original and practical solutions to real-world problems and will subsequently fit well into the society as professionals and knowledge workers.
UNIQUEBLENDEDASSESSMENTSYSTEM
SAM is designed to help students develop the skills they need to succeed; college-based assessments make up 70 per cent of the final marks and external examinations make up the other 30 per cent. This system allows students to take ownership of their own academic progress. From this, students gain hands-on experiences and become more self-directed in obtaining knowledge and managing their time. The college-based assessments are moderated by a panel of the SACE Board of South Australia for quality assurance.
BEYOND CLASSROOM LEARNING
Learning also takes place outside the classroom as students are encouraged to embark on adventure trips, excursions and participate in activities that bring a positive impact on the community. Community service and environmental action is a key focus of these activities.
