Island Waste Management Corporation is proposing to increase the approved height of the landfill located at East Prince Waste Management Facility in Wellington.

An evaluation has been conducted by CBCL which determined that the landfill could increase its height to 24 meters without impacting or creating any potential technical, operational, safety or visual concerns or issues.

Increasing the height to 24 meters allows the Corporation to fully utilize the space occupied by the landfill, extend its useful life for many years, and offer a financially-responsible solution for all ratepayers.

The following documents provide an overview of the existing site and demonstrate how an increase in height to 24 meters would appear visually. The artistic renderings reflect the proposed height at the worst time of year when foliage from trees is not present. During times when trees are in foliage it would be very difficult to see the landfill from any viewpoint.

La Société de gestion des déchets de Prince-Est propose d’augmenter la hauteur approuvée de son site d’enfouissement situé à l’Installation de gestion des déchets de Prince-Est à Wellington.

Selon une évaluation menée par la firme CBCL, la hauteur du site d’enfouissement pourrait être augmentée à 24 mètres sans créer de préoccupations ou de problèmes techniques, opérationnels, visuels ou de sécurité.

Cette augmentation de hauteur permettrait à la Société d’utiliser pleinement l’espace occupé par le site d’enfouissement, de prolonger sa vie utile d’un grand nombre années et d’offrir une solution viable aux contribuables.

Les documents suivants donneront un aperçu du site existant et montreront ce que ressemblera l’augmentation à 24 mètres. Les vues d’artiste reflètent la hauteur proposée au pire des temps lorsqu’il n’y a pas de feuilles sur les arbres. Lorsqu’il y aura des feuilles, il sera très difficile de voir le site d’enfouissement, peu importe le point de vue.
