Name of Program Martial Arts (PPS Betako Merpati Putih)

Project Train students to have strong physical body and mentality for

achieving the best performance in the university

Locations Sampoerna University, Mulya Business Park (Park area & SL)

Dates & Duration Start from February, 20th 2015, the time 1930-2130

I. Background

Lot of polemics in the modern ear make many peoples become restless because of

negative impact that have been given. The negative impact mostly about criminality

that have significantly increase. For instance, crime that often occurs are about human

right violation in the form of murder, violence, robbery and torture.

Obviously, this will give pressure in students daily who live far away from the origin

place. They might afraid going somewhere and reluctant to interact with the

environment. Furthermore, it will make them have less productivity in term of study.

To prevent it happen, they need to be equipped with some knowledge of self-defense

to protect their self. Mostly people that learn self-defense usually use for fight or hurt

people. It as a result when they learn but they don’t know how to implement it in the

real life. Therefore, students will trained how to implement that abilities in the proper

way. Mean that not only techniques given for defense but we use to give the

philosophical. So they know deeply what they learn, that’s the real martial arts then.

Next, to give students place and chance, we purpose to make martial arts club. This

club not only about martial arts, but as a place to students for being active.

Merpati Putih is not only about self-defense but have to be like an organization. This

is because Merpati Putih had to be international martial art, not only in Indonesia but

in abroad already. Such as United States, France, Japan, Netherland also some

developed country in Europe. Those thing that we want to keep, PPS Betako Merpati

Putih as a culture of Indonesia. As a young generation, we should able to keep once of

Indonesian legacy. Merpati Putih was going abroad because it has some unique way

that attract foreign people. Effectiveness and high efficiency in terms of self-defends,

using inner power and capable to do natural healing give attraction to foreign people.

They come to Indonesia for learning and develop in their country. We are as owner of

the Merpati Putih, we should able to keep and develop. It’s not impossible to foreign

for snatch away from us, if we don’t care to keep. So, learn Merpati Putih make the

students contribute in preserving Indonesia culture as well. In the other hand, students

also can joint any competition for represent campus and strive for medals. This is very

important because many universities in Indonesia have Merpati Putih club like UI,

UGM, IPB, Brawijaya and others. If there is Merpati Putih in USBI, it’s very easy to

build good relation with them through Merapti Putih as well.

II. Objective

1. To make each members can learn and know about martial art

2. Have a good communication with others

3. Make members become strong and healthy inside or outside

4. Be representative of campus to join championship

5. Getting medals and awards for campus

6. Members have good mentality to face any pressure

7. Build relationship with another university in Indonesia

III. Expected Results/Output

After getting the approval of the establishment new training group at USBI.

Eventually the training will be conducted regularly. The exercise will be implement

the basic skill until the advanced skill of martial art. After they get some techniques,

they can improve their individual abilities. Later, the members will follow every

championship to get medals and awards for representative of the university, able to do

natural treatment and ready for facing any challenges in daily life. We strive to make

all members have good mentality and good personality. Strong physics to make them

stay healthy to achieve the best performance in the campus life.

IV. Invitation and Host of Program

We will need some activities inside campus. As an international community, we try to

have some meets. We might invite the other Merpati Putih to come in the campus for

exercise together. Moreover, we can invite members from abroad to be our guess, so

the students will more excited to have an exercise with native. It also to evaluate how

deep the students understand the material given. In other hand, we can introduce our

campus to people outside. Next, we could have a great network to them as well.

V. Detail Program

Merpati Putih targeted to all students of Sampoerna University who interest much in

the martial arts. It will prepare students to have some abilities to protect their self.

Another way, the activities will much related to self-defense and the organizational

life. We decide to run the activity officially in February, 20 th 2015. Detail daily

activities for Merpati Putih exercise;

Place : Student Lounge and Park area (in front of Building B)

Time : Friday 19.30-21.30 and Sunday 07.00-10.00

The materials : Basic until advanced skill

Additional materials : World championship game play

We will practice for Merpati Putih’s materials, these materials including movement

techniques and inner power. Method that used to deliver the material will be various

based on the members like. Moreover, the training is not always take place in our

campus, we can share with another Merpati Putih group. We might going to other

universities to have training together. This is the best way to make a channel in the

different campus like UI, Mercubuana, and Binus that already has Merpati Putih

association. So, while we are learn about martial art we can also do communication

with other university that can help us to increase communication and network skill for

each members in this university. So, if there are some competitions in another

universities, we could join easily because we have access already. In the end, we

strive in any chances to get medals for our university.
