Proposal for SolTrans Service Changes

●Fleet consolidation●Address changes to Routes 2, 7 and 85 to make them more efficient.●Sunday Service reductions on Routes 80●Route suggestions for Benicia●Frequency reductions on all routes.●Transfers and Day Passes
SolTrans fleet consolidation
SolTrans now has a combined fleet of buses from two former transit agencies. As a single
agency, it could use these buses in ways they weren't able to be used before. For example:
shuttle vans, once used for Benicia public routes, now can be used in Vallejo for non-
peak routes.
Proposed Changes to Route 7● Reduce peak hour traffic congestion on North
Ascot Parkway● Serve Solano College students living in East
Vallejo● Provide a safe transfer to Route 2 at Target
Proposed Changes to Route 7
During peak hours, supplemental school routes, as well as Route 7, use a bus stop on
N. Ascot Parkway
Routing 7 to Solano College will Serve West Vallejo Students
The location of this bus stop blocks traffic for both bicyclists as well as right-lane traffic. This congests after-
school traffic flow from Jesse Bethel High School.
Proposed Changes To Route 2● Serve Solano College for West Vallejo● Serve Jesse Bethel High for West Vallejo● Provide a Safe Transfer to Route 7 at
Target
Proposed Changes to Route 2
Moving the Route 2 (and tripper stops) to Redwood solves traffic problems.
Transfer point at Target provides a safer alternative to Gateway Plaza
Caveats to SolTrans Proposals● If Route 2 is routed to
serve Solano College before Target, Route 7 riders will not be able to transfer at Target in order to arrive at the College. Instead, they will need to transfer at VTC; exponentially lengthening their trip.
Sunday Service on Route 80/85● The Route 80 and 85 are the main
connections and SolTrans and Napa Vine riders have with the rest of the Bay Area.
● I strongly propose reducing Sunday service to a single Route 80 bus. This allows for hourly service.
● Route 85 currently serves Westfield and Business Center Drive only. I recommend establishing Dial-a-Ride service to these locations.
Route Suggestions for Benicia● Suggest County
Connection take over Route 76.
● Convert routes 21 and 22 into fixed routes that make only two peak hour runs.
● Merge 21 and 22 into one fixed looping route that makes only two peak hour runs.
Frequency Reductions On All Routes
● If SolTrans aims to reduce costs, why are they proposing to increase frequency at the cost of evening service hours? In order to preserve the current final departure times, I urge you to reduce all local routes to hourly service, with selective runs at peak hours.
● A suggestion would be to divide route departure times from VTC between x:00 and x:30.
Transfers and Day Passes● To avoid inconvenience for those
transferring to buses outside of the SolTrans system, as well as those not able to buy a day-pass at VTC, I recommend following suit with AC Transit by charging an additional fee for a transfer slip.
● For those wishing to use 10-ride passes, incorporate the fee for the transfer with the cost of the pass, and allow the rider to receive a transfer as soon as the pass is punched.
