Proposal for use of Automated External Defibrillator within the Work Environment The use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) has become more widely expected within the work environment and from December 2016 the Health and Safety Executive have incorporated the safe use of an AED within the First Aid at Work Qualification. To increase the potential for the casualty to survive cardiac arrest, the use of an external defibrillator needs to be given within 3 minutes. In the Scottish Government report on Out of Hospital Cardiac Arrest – A Strategy for Scotland (March 2015) the casualties % of survival to discharge if the shock is given within 5 minutes is 53% whereas the % of survival to first shock of between 8 – 10 minutes where CPR is completed is 31%. The National Target is to get a defibrillator to a casualty in Cardiac Arrest within 8 minutes. Between March – August 2016, London Ambulance Service achieved between 58%- 67% for the national target. Within Heathrow Airport, where you are never more than 2 minutes away from a defibrillator they achieved 96% for the national target. The overall survival rate in 2011/12 in London was 10.9% whereas the survival rate in Heathrow was 74%. (source Heathrow Media August 2013) P & P Associates recommend the Welmedical SP1. This machine can be used on both Adult and Children. The machine also comes with a box, replacement pads and prep kit (which includes razor, towel, scissors and face shield). The machine has an indicator to show when the battery and pads are due for expiry. The machine also can include a memory card where we can download the sequencing of what has occurred.

BenefitsSave precious seconds when a child’s life is in your handsThe iPAD SP1 comes with dual adult and child electrode pads. There is a simple switch to select the adult or child setting. No pad changes or setting changes are required.

Audible instructions always heard in noisy environmentsThe iPAD SP1 has an ambient noise detector. In a noisy environment, the volume of the voice prompts will automatically increase up to 90 decibels. Verbal guidance will always be heard above high levels of background noise.

Nothing to break or lose with robust one-piece designWell reputed for its high quality construction, the iPAD can be relied on to perform and endure emergency usage time after time.

Makes saving someone’s life as simple as possibleThe iPAD SP1 intelligently guides a rescuer at the pace at which they work. Large, clear illuminated instructions and calm voice prompts give guidance at every step.

If data is required, data download is simple with the device in situUp to 15 hours of usage can be stored in the memory of the SP1. Should the data be required, the download process can be performed with a simple SD card. The device does not need to be sent away.

Highly responsive when it matters mostThe iPAD uses the latest in defibrillation technology to ensure that the device works as quickly as possible. After a cycle of 2 minutes of CPR, the device can perform analysis and be ready for shock delivery in less than 5 seconds.
