AQUATIC CENTER Prophetstown State Park

The aquatic center features a 30-foot tube slide, body flume, lazy river float area, adventure channel, zero-entry pool with play features, and an aquatic activity area with basketball. The bathhouse has showers, changing areas, restrooms, lockers (guest provides the lock) and a concession area.

The aquatic center parking lot accommodates 198 vehicle spaces plus overflow parking.

The long, low design allows the facility to blend into the landscape and the plantings are designed to mesh with the park’s natural resource management plan.

A grass berm for sunning, planted with a native short-grass prairie mix, along the backside of the leisure pool area stops

beneath the slide tower. Four species of trees, seven species of shrubs,

eight species of grasses and sedges, and 20 species of flowers grow here. All are native and help recreate the feel of the prairie around the center. Additionally, more than 240 large boulders,

remnants of the glaciers, are placed in this area.

This is the first aquatic center/pool the DNR has opened since 2008. It is the only outdoor facility in the system with waterpark-like features.
