Bandwagon• This advertisement is an

example of bandwagon because it illustrates a large group of people wearing skechers in an attempt to convince consumers to join the crowd.

Big Lie• This is a big lie

because it tries to persuade men that if they blow “Tipalet” smoke into a girl’s face then she will follow him. It is so ridiculous that it is almost believable but obviously not true.

Glittering Generalization• This Chevy advertisement

illustrates glittering generalization because the main message is that the car is eco-friendly, hence you should buy it. Most people tend to purchase things that they think will be better for the environment so simply saying “Eco(-friendly)” and showing the environment would convince some people and they will skim over the actual car features.

Naming-calling• This modified image

represents name-calling propaganda because it clearly shows someone who is not in favor of Barack Obama attempting to ruin his reputation by calling him Muslim. This would ruin his reputation by affecting the way many people think and look at him.

• This skechers advertisement shows a “plain” and happy family in skechers sneakers. It is meant to reach out to ordinary people and let them know that skechers is the shoe for them.

• Ambercombie & Fitch mainly advertises using snob appeal propaganda. This specific advertisement tries to tell consumers that if they wear Ambercombie & Fitch then they will look just as handsome, fit, and popular as the model in the advertisement.

• Former president, George Bush, is often blamed for many of the governmental failures of America, therefore many people have grown accustomed to blaming him. In this political cartoon he is perceived as the cause of 9/11.

Slogan• McDonald’s is one of

the most popular fast food restaurants in the world, therefore it must have a catchy phrase or slogan for people to associate it with. The propaganda slogan for McDonald’s is “I’m Lovin’ It” which is supposed to remind customers of just how good McDonald’s food is.

Testimonial

• This is a testimonial propaganda advertisement because it shows Ralph Lauren clothing being endorsed by well-acclaimed male tennis players. Hence, fans of these athletes would most likely want to wear Ralph Lauren clothes in hopes of being like them.

Transfer• When people hear baked, or

oven-baked, they consider the food product to be healthier than other products because it is not fried. So, Lay’s sells baked potato chips in hopes of people making a connection and considering it a healthier alternative, even though it is possible that it has close to the same amount of calories and nutritional value as regular potato chips.
