In a small town in Haryana a farmer used to grow wheat in his farm. He was able to take care of his family of four ( wisely enough) with his produce. He used to sell his produce with the Food Corporation of India which gave him a fair purchase price.

Of late the FCI was not procuring. The farmer was a little worried. One day when he was resting in his field a man came to meet him. The man after exchanging pleasantries , offered to buy the produce of the farmer at a fixed price after the harvest irrespective of the price prevailing then. This seemed attractive to the farmer.

For agreeing to do so the man offered a small sum of money immediately in addition to what he would pay later.

The man went back happy that he had concluded a contract. While he was on his way he struck friendship with a co passenger in the bus. The latter had a bright idea. He offered to the former to buy the contract with the farmer at a fixed price which was a little higher than that mentioned in the earlier contract. For this he also offered a small sum now. But he posed a small rider. He would not execute the contract in case the price of the produce was less than the fixed price on the day the contract was to be finally met upon harvest. The former man agreed.
