The EPCP® ‐ EPC Professional Certification Program
Executive Summary ProjectTeam® is the exclusive editor of the “Project Management Handbook for EPC”, a comprehensive manual that – for the first time ever – documents and defines the commonly recognized project management practices throughout the EPC industry world‐wide. Due to the fact that never before a comparable body of knowledge specifically for the EPC industry has been published, this Handbook has the unique potential to evolve as the leading standard in EPC business in the world. ProjectTeam® is established as a world‐wide organization that provides a portfolio of services specifically tailored to the needs of the EPC industry for industrial plants. These services include the ProjectTeam® Global Experts Network for consulting and project support services in EPC project management, contract management and risk management and the training and certification program for “EPCP® – EPC Professionals”. A recruiting platform for EPCP® world‐wide is currently under development. ProjectTeam® is cooperating with international institutes and training providers to implement a certification program for project managers specifically for plant engineering, procurement and construction projects. The content of this training curriculum and certification program is based on the 18 modules of the “Project Management Handbook for EPC”. Cooperation partners of ProjectTeam® are executing the predefined training modules under the license of ProjectTeam® within several countries world‐wide. The participants of the EPCP® certification program are project management professionals that have already gained project management qualifications, e.g. through CEPM®, IPMA®, PMI® or Prince2® certifications. They work or seek to work for the owners/ operators of plants, for EPC contractors or for engineering or construction companies involved in EPC contracts or other companies serving the EPC industry. ProjectTeam® and EPCP – EPC Professional® are registered trademarks.

PROJECT TEAM
1 – The EPCP® Certification Program
Let’s grow together in a global EPC world
The certification program EPCP® – EPC Professional is being established world‐wide as an advanced certification program for project managers in the EPC industry, on top of the more universal project management certification programs of CEPM®, IPMA®, PMI® or Prince2®. The professionals passing the EPCP® certification shall have a very high level of EPC project management knowhow and be capable to hold management functions in large EPC projects, such as project managers, site managers, contract managers, commercial project managers, engineering managers or schedulers. The EPCP® certification shall guarantee a reliable high quality level for staffing needs by the EPC industry throughout the world. Currently most large EPC companies have defined corporate internal qualification programs for the development of their project managers. The qualification criteria established by these companies are similar and comparable. Objective of the EPCP® certification is to standardize these criteria throughout the industry. The grading system consist of three levels, the Junior EPCP® after having passed the exam of the first‐level seminar, the Advanced EPCP® after having passed the exams of the second‐level seminars, and the Senior EPCP® after having proven 5 years of operational experience in EPC project management positions.

PROJECT TEAM
Through this program the industry will benefit in their global recruiting by finding applicants on the job market who have been certified to have defined competencies tailored for the EPC business. The applicants themselves will benefit from the certification scheme by increased attractiveness and visibility on the job market and potentially higher salaries than non‐certified staff. The program shall intentionally be offered in English only and not translated into any other language, as English is the language of communication in EPC contracts. Applicants without sufficient English language skills will not be able to pass the Level 1 EPCP® exam. Applicants shall commit to a code of conduct based on basic business ethics, compliance, anti‐corruption and tolerance of different cultures and religions. The certification scheme builds on the following elements:
(1) Entry requirement: Certification by
CEPM®, IPMA®, PMI® or Prince2®. A generic project management background and English language skills are required to benefit from the trainings.
(2) Participation to the Level 1 Training “Project Management for EPC” including EPCP® exam leads to EPCP® Level 1 (Junior Level)
(3) Participation to the Level 2 training modules including corresponding exams and professional experience of at least 2 years in the EPC industry leads to EPCP® Level 2 (Advanced Level)
(4) English test – fluent language skills
(5) Education background of the applicant requires university degree and supplementary professional education. Non‐academic applicants may be accepted with stronger requirements on education and experience.
(6) Participation to general training modules related to behavioral skills, e.g. communication, team building, conflict management etc.
(7) In addition professional experience of at least 5 years in the EPC industry leads to Level 3 (Senior Level)

Entry requirements: Any one of the universal PM certificates (minimum requirement): CIPM® Certificate in Project Management by CEPM® ‐ see www.cepm.com IPMA® Level C certification – see www.ipma.world PMP® certification by PMI® ‐ see www.pmi.org Prince2® Practitioner certification by Axelos – see www.axelos.com Applicants for EPCP® certification can register to the program by email to info@project‐team.org. The registration includes the submittal of documents providing evidence that the admission criteria are met. Each accepted applicant will be assigned an identification number that will be maintained through the specific trainings and the exams. Applicants are requested to agree to the recording of their personal data. The web‐system and database complies with legal data security requirements. The certificates will not expire, once issued.
Global Recruiting Services for EPCP® ‐ EPC Professionals Applicants who have successfully passed the EPCP® exam have the possibility to
accept the transfer of their data to an EPCP® database. This registration will require a renewal every three years with an update of the CV and of the contact information.
By registering in the EPCP® database, the certified EPC Professionals will receive job offers that exactly match the criteria of inquiries placed by employers. The service is free of charge to the EPCP®.
Employers can approach ProjectTeam® or recruiting cooperation partners of the ProjectTeam® Global Experts Network through direct contact. A service fee of two monthly salaries will be charged for each successful employment contract to the employer. ProjectTeam® is working with recruiting cooperation partners world‐wide who will review, interview and preselect candidates before proposing candidates to the employer, and will coordinate and – when desired – participate during the first direct contact.

Independent training providers world‐wide – once accredited – have the freedom to place the course based training modules in their local training program at prices that fit to the market. Training presentations and handouts are provided by ProjectTeam® against the license fee. The use of the trademark of ProjectTeam® shall guarantee a defined high quality level and provide trainees with the opportunity to get a course accepted in a later EPCP® curriculum, even if this is not planned from the beginning. Participants who are certified as PMP® will be able to claim PDU’s for the seminars, as all training providers are also accredited by PMI® as registered education providers. The 18 EPCP® Training Modules are developed by ProjectTeam® based on the “Project Management Handbook for EPC”. The training curriculum is structured into 7 group‐seminars with a total duration of 10 days: (1) Level 1 Seminar – Project Management for EPC
This 3‐day‐seminar is giving an overall introduction to all 18 modules, with learning presentations and group exercises specifically using examples from the EPC industry. Seminar description and agenda see next pages.
(2) Level 2 Seminars
These seminars of each one day (time schedule: 2 days) are intensive group exercises based on the overall introduction training (Level 1). Learning presentations provide more in‐depth knowledge of the relevant modules and group exercises are aimed to practice the application of the knowledge in use‐cases from the EPC industry. The seminars can be taken in random order and are independent each from another.
Participants’ benefit:
Presentations based on the content of the „PM Handbook for EPC“ Get the „tool box“ for direct application in your own projects Exercises to learn how to apply the „tool box“ Small seminar groups for interactive learning success Meet and exchange experiences with other managers of the EPC industry Certificate acknowledged for the EPCP® Certification
