Project/Initiative Funding request/proposal April 2014 Introduction This document provides a top-level summary for a project, initiative or purchase. We are seeking part or full funding so that our network of social and community groups can deliver improved services in Belgium. We act as a key partner to many organizations that find it difficult to get onto the funding radar because they may be small and/or deliver services that are local or unusual.

Our community profile in Belgium We are an active network that collaborates to deliver opportunities and/or funding for/with the following communities:

• Special needs education • International and local schools • Charities, NGOs and community groups • Business networking groups • Social networking groups • Informal job clubs • Sports clubs • Singles • Scouting/Guiding • Expatriates

We deliver our services in partnership with locally based and locally run organizations. By supporting people who already deliver great value, we enable them to deliver even more. Our Reach As an active network, each link in the chain develops and manages its own community, its members and stakeholders. Our network is growing at a healthy rate - the statistics below provide a summary of the number of individuals we are currently able to reach.

1. Weekly newsletter – 5,300 (news, banners 120x600, 340x340, 150x150 or 220x220), which is the PTPI.be direct reach

2. Banners on our website 120x240 www.ptpi.be (home page) together with logos in our Sponsors and Partners area

3. Social media channels used: LinkedIn, Meetup.com, Twitter, Facebook. WordPress Blog, Pinterest, Google+

4. Additional marketing support provided through key partners: Around Brussels in 30 days, Brussels Business Flats, Belgafiles, Away Magazine, Together Magazine, Expats in Brussels, Expatica, Expats.com, AngloInfo, Serve the City and the Scouts/Guides – these channels offer PTPI an additional reach of 6,000 people weekly through newsletters, and an estimated 120,000 people monthly through website visibility and printed materials

5. We host a number of meetings each week where people can speak with our core team face-to-face. In a typical week we will meet 23 new people and respond to around 16 email/telephone requests for help and information

6. We are regular guests at the International schools and provide support to a number of their projects and students

7. We are involved in a number of relocation projects, such as those delivered by the team from am-pm relocations

As a social enterprise, the money we make is focused back into the communities we support. Most of these organizations are located and operate in Belgium. We are also working with one organization supporting communities in Malawi.

> Supporting Serve the City, Brussels Financials for this request EPPE We have a location in the Marolles area of Brussels, behind the Palais de Justice called EPPE. Here, our community provides material for 5 classrooms so that local, often immigrant children or children from families on or below the poverty line, can join an after school homework club. Many of these children may not have French or Dutch as a home language, or parents that speak either language. The children often fall behind on schoolwork, and local schools reserve places at school based support offerings, for children where both parents are working. The facilities are quite basic, but serve their purpose. Our main needs are for repairs to the bathrooms (450 euro), kitchen equipment and materials (600 euro), books and teaching materials (250 euro), furniture (750 euro), games and sports equipment (250 euro), additional skilled human resources to supervise the youth (2000 euro). The children also have a large hall in which they can play, do sports and host some events. This room is dated and the décor needs an update. The room is quite large and high, thus needs specialist attention, which is estimated to cost 4500 euro. Scouting/Guiding Every week, a wonderful group of adult volunteers offer their time to educate and supervise groups of children/youth, ages 6 to 18. A membership fee is paid for each young person by his or her families or covered by a charitable organization. The fees that are collected never cover the full costs required to cover all activities, in order to keep membership affordable to as wide a group of young people as possible.

This means that we are constantly seeking funding for equipment such as: camping and event tents (200 euro each), cooking equipment (180 euro), first aid materials (250 euro), workshop materials and tools (1200 euro), transportation and storage costs (2700 euro annually), training costs for leaders (700 euro). This community of young people come from all walks of life and is culturally diverse. Serve the City We currently support close to 1000 volunteers to deliver humanitarian projects all over Belgium, to a growing needy community. From homelessness, to the elderly and children in need - our activities provide a range of products and services to ensure that people remain upper most in our hearts and minds. At Serve the City our money is used to provide the following materials: Food and water for our soup kitchen (300 euro weekly), toys and games for our projects covering young children (160 euro), beautician items used for women that are victims of abuse (140 euro), location refreshments for our volunteers at our big events (130 euro monthly), cleaning and gardening materials used by our projects (140 euro monthly), materials and items used by the office team members to coordinate and ensure our projects are delivered to a high standard (90 euro monthly). People to People We provide project and workshop leaders for many community projects. Our role is to ensure that these individuals are skilled, have all the tools required and are insured (150 euro per leader). Please do contact us to continue the conversation. We very much appreciate the time you have taken to read this document, and the chance to show what we at PTPI do all over the world. Inspired by UK based fund raising initiatives such as Children In Need, PTPI has worked with the Ring Ring company to bring the dial-to-give concept to Belgium to raise much needed funds for a wide range of local community projects.
