4. Project Description:

We would like to transform our IMC in our building to a more flexible space that supports

both large and small group work. We would also like to expand this space so that the

computer lab would have its own dedicated space. The furnishings we currently have are

metal and don't allow for us to move them in order to open up the space when needed for

larger gatherings. We need a larger open space with furnishings that are moveable and

with technology that can help support our student learning.

5. Project Objectives:

The current IMC space is very small and has the computer lab included in this space. The

current layout does not lend itself well for large or small groups to work. We are proposing

that we expand this space to allow for more open areas with moveable shelves that can

allow for large classroom groups and community groups to meet but also have the

flexibility to allow for some smaller areas for small groups to work. Having the computer lab

in a separate space would allow for classrooms to be using this space at same time other

classes are in IMC without interrupting one another. Having updated shelving that is

moveable would allow us to move these as needed to create different spaces as needed.

6. General Information:

Two other similar schools have updated their IMC which include spaces that allow for both

large and small group work. They also include furniture that is moveable and has built in

storage. We are proposing that the school IMC be updated to include these same types of

features. We have included pictures of those IMCs to show the types of features that we

would like to see included at our school.

7. Summary:

Having an inviting space that is functional both for school purposes and community events

is desired. Our current IMC space lacks both the space and the aesthetically pleasing

environment that we would like to have for our students and community groups. Although

we are doing the best with the space we have, we know that with an expanded and

remodeled space we could be offering so much more for our students.

8. Project Outcomes:

a. Demonstrate enhanced student learning opportunities.

b. Keep track of the number of community events using this space.
