INTRODUCTION

Holidays are important part of everyday life. They make people remember

about some important events. Some holidays just make us relax, they make our life

eventful. Many people say that birthdays are their favourite holiday. Children like

birthdays because it is the time of gifts, joy and happiness. All families love to get

together and celebrate it!

But can children organize a birthday party themselves? Children know how to

play, children know how to celebrate and have fun…but they still have a problem

– birthday menu.

The aim of this work is to show you how to make a birthday party menu for

you and your guests.

The subject of our project is devoted to the most important parts of birthday

menu.

Working on the project we used different methods of the project and study

with the help of: analyzing different sources of information (we have worked with

our books and articles) and combined different meals to make the best birthday

menu. We used the method of studying, comparing and questionairing

In our work, we are going to give the description of what birthday and menu

means, what birthday song and poems we know, we are going to tell about birthday

traditions in other countries and about our birthdays as well.

Finally, we are going to create our birthday party menu.

As a result, we hope those pupils who want to organize a birthday party will

find out something interesting and useful to prepare their own birthday menu.

a person was born.

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY” SONG

"Happy Birthday to You" or "Happy Birthday", is a song traditionally sung to

celebrate the anniversary of a person's birth.

According to the 1998 Guinness World Records, it is the most recognized

song in the English language. The song's base lyrics have been translated into at least

18 languages.

The person whose birthday is being celebrated is filled in for "[NAME]".

POEMS

Birthday poetry can include different words on this special day. It can be a

present to include some words or poems written inside a greeting card.

Children can write a few lines of a poem for a friend or relative. It's a gift

that shows extra care and thought.

Within these words lie lots of things I never get to say.

It means I love you first of all, then thanks for all you do.

But most of all, I guess it means that I am thinking of you on this very

special day.

INFORMATION ABOUT BIRTHDAYS AROUND THE WORLD

In Denmark, people put a flag outside their window to show that somebody in

the house is having a birthday. The family put presents around the child’s bed when

he is sleeping. When the child wakes up, he is very happy because he can see the

presents

In Nepal, people make a special mark on the child’s forehead. The mark is

made from a mixture of rice, yoghurt and colouring. People think that the mark will

bring good luck on their birthday.

In Vietnam, people don’t celebrate the exact day of their birthday. Everybody

celebrates their birthday on the same day – New Year’s Day. On the first morning

of the New Year, parents give their children red envelopes. Inside the envelope,

there is “lucky money”.

In England, when it’s your birthday, your friends will sometimes give you the

‘bumps’. They lift you up and down in the air by your hands and feet, one time for

each year and one extra for good luck.

In Hungary, everyone pulls on the earlobes of the birthday person and says a

little rhyme. The rhyme means "God bless you, live so long that your ears reach your

ankles".

In Canada, the birthday child is caught by his friends and his nose is greased

with butter for good luck. The greased nose makes the child too slippery for bad luck

to catch him.

MY BIRTHDAY IS WONDERFUL DAY FOR ME!

Birthday is a very wonderful day. Everybody likes to celebrate it. It is a good

opportunity to spend time with friends, parents, and relatives, nearest and dearest.

I was born on the 24th of August.

In the morning on my birthday my parents put the presents near my bed. So

the first thing I see when I open my eyes is my presents. My mother and father

usually come to my room to congratulate me and to sing "Happy Birthday".

Usually we celebrate my birthday party in the evening. Once we went to a

cafe to celebrate my birthday, but usually we celebrate it at home.

We clean the house the day before birthday. In the morning of the birthday

party day my father goes shopping and buys everything we need. My mother bakes

a cake or a pie and cupcakes.

By the evening we put on evening suits and dresses and wait for the guests.

The flat looks nice and cozy.

At four o’clock my relatives and friends come to wish me happy birthday and

I am glad to see them. They bring flowers, books, sweets as birthday presents. I

thank my friends. I like to get flowers and presents.

We have got a good holiday dinner on this day. My mother brings us a cake

with nine candles on it, because this year I am 9. My friends sing the song “Happy

Birthday to You” and I blow all the candles out.

We dance and sing songs, play games and laugh, tell funny stories.

I think that my birthday is one of the best days in a year!

MY BIRTHDAY IS ONE OF THE BEST HOLIDAYS FOR ME!

Birthday is a wonderful day for everybody! Many people like to celebrate it

You can spend time with your parents, friends and relatives and get a lot of presents.

People like their birthdays because of the presents, too.

My birthday is on the 18th of July. Birthday is a very remarkable day for me.

It is summer so the weather is usually great!

On this day in the morning my parents come into my room and say, "Happy

Birthday!" And, of course, they don’t forget about presents. They usually know what

my secret wish is. I enjoy surprises.

Usually we have my birthday party at home or in the country.

We always invite my friends and relatives to the party. We usually have big

parties at home and like to meet our guests. My parents help me organize this party.

My father and I go shopping to buy food and everything we need for the party and

my mom stays at home to start cooking. She also lays the table, she does it perfectly.

When we come back I start helping my mom with cooking in the kitchen. We cook

a lot of tasty food. When everything is ready we dress up, make our hair and wait

for the guests.

At five o'clock my relatives and friends arrive to congratulate me and I am

happy to see them. They bring a lot of flowers, presents, postcards and sweets. I have

got a lot of nice presents - flowers, toys, postcards. I thank them all.

I usually enjoy my birthday parties. We have a good holiday dinner and

everybody is merry. We dance, make jokes, sing karaoke, play games, speak about

different things and don’t forget about tasty things on the table. My mom brings the

birthday cake and I blow the candles out.

Everyone enjoys the party very much. After the party we go for a walk. This

is one of the best holidays for me!

make sure everyone gets to enjoy all the food that you decide to serve.

You have to consider all the possible preferences of your invited guests or just

go with what’s commonly liked by everyone.

PLANNING BIRTHDAY MENU

Our work includes several steps:

1) Projecting of our plan of birthday party menu.

2) Interviewing our classmates about their favourite food for birthday parties.

3) Creating a birthday party menu.

4) Designing dishes from our menu.

What we have done:

1) We gave the description of what birthday and menu means,

2) We found a birthday song and poems.

3) We wrote about birthday traditions in other countries and about our birthdays

as well.

4) Finally created our birthday party menu.

We hope those pupils who want to organize a birthday party will find out

something interesting and useful to prepare their own birthday menu.

CONCLUSION

Working on this project we realize that our favourite holiday – is our birthday.

Working on this project we realize that birthday menu is one of the main parts

of planning a birthday party.

We showed you common meals of birthday menu. And now we hope those

pupils who want to organize a birthday party will find out something interesting and

useful to prepare their own birthday menu.

To conclude we would like to stress that we realized the main aim of our project

– we showed you how to make a birthday party menu for you and your guests.

You may celebrate your birthday party in different places, countries and cities,

with different friends, but for sure our birthday menu fits it all!
