Watching the video of “The Adventures of a Little Drop”…. An introduction to the theme.

Sources of Water

After watching the video and listening to the story of the Little Drop, children got to know the source of water in their homes.

Children brainstormed for various activities where they use water . This was followed by a video, showing the various uses of water.

Hands-on-Activities

Children did various hands-on activities with regard to uses of water, like watering plants and washing their hankies.

Sink and Float

Children were narrated the story of “The Thirsty Crow”, to introduce the concept of Sink and Float.

Sink and Float

Later children did “Sink & Float” experiment in the class. They first predicted and then explored by putting various objects in the water and observed whether they sink or float.

How does water taste?

Children were given plain water to drink and tell how it tasted . Then sugar, salt and lemon were given in sequence for them to add and taste the changes in the “taste of water”.

Children played water game, wherein they transferred water from a tub to a bottle using sponge and funnel.

Be Water Smart, Save Water!

Environmentalist “Ms Akshita Misra” addressed the children about different ways in which we can save water and “be water smart”

Through Friday Projects children got an opportunity to enhance their learning with the involvement of their parents.

Class activity

Children did worksheet to consolidate their learning about water.They also made paper umbrella by using water colours on a paper.

Maintaining Journals

Children maintained a Journal Record of use of water in their daily life.

Culmination Event

Parents were invited at the culmination event and were taken through the journey of our theme through a presentation. Parents enthusiastically participated in various art and science activities and water games which were planned for the day.
